Portable Wearable Resistance Band Training Apparatus

Abstract

A portable, wearable resistance band training apparatus having at least one resistance device secured in a channel of a strap portion forming shoulder straps, a plurality of access openings in the shoulder strap portion for grasping and extending the resistance device from the sleeve for performing one or more resistance training exercises, wherein the resistance band tension and length is adjustable, weighted pockets are formed on the shoulder strap portion between the access openings, the distal end of the shoulder straps is securable to the back portion, and an elastic backpack including a lightweight or weighted insert is provided.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A wearable resistance training apparatus configured to be worn on a user's upper body comprising:
 an elongated elastic resistance device;   a shoulder strap portion including first and second shoulder straps each having a proximal end and a distal end, a plurality of spaced-apart loops on the shoulder straps configured for receiving portions of the resistance device so as to at least partially envelope the resistance device, and access openings formed between the spaced-apart loops through which access openings the resistance device is accessible to the user for performing resistance exercises; and   a back portion including an upper end connected to shoulder strap portion, a lower end, a sleeve extending between the upper end and lower end configured to receive another portion of the resistance band in the sleeve, and a fastener for adjustably securing the resistance band to the back portion.   
     
     
         2 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the elastic resistance device further comprises a continuous closed loop. 
     
     
         3 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the sleeve in the back portion further comprises opposite lower and upper end openings configured for receiving the resistance device. 
     
     
         4 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 3  wherein the fastener on the back portion is aligned to receive the resistance band upon exiting the upper opening in sleeve. 
     
     
         5 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 4  wherein the fastener is a buckle. 
     
     
         6 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 5  wherein the sleeve is openable to facilitate insertion and removal of the resistance band. 
     
     
         7 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a pocket formed on an outer panel of the sleeve on the back portion. 
     
     
         8 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 3  further comprising a pocket configured for receiving a weighted member formed in one or more of the plurality of spaced-apart loops on the shoulder straps. 
     
     
         9 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a pair of nonelastic straps secured to the lower end of the back portion, each of said straps including a connector for securing to a mating connector on a distal end of one of the first and second shoulder straps. 
     
     
         10 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the nonelastic straps are foldable to form handles on the lower end of the back portion. 
     
     
         11 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the elastic resistance device further comprises handles formed on opposite ends of the resistance device. 
     
     
         12 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a backpack formed of an elastic material configured to be detachably secured to the resistance training apparatus. 
     
     
         13 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 12  wherein the backpack further comprises a rigid insert. 
     
     
         14 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 13  wherein the rigid insert further comprises a weighted member. 
     
     
         15 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 13  wherein the backpack is contoured to the shape of the back portion. 
     
     
         16 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 13  further comprising a waistband securable to the back portion. 
     
     
         17 . An exercise training apparatus comprising:
 shoulder straps configured to be worn over a respective shoulder of a user and suspend the exercise training apparatus on the user's body, and a back portion;   each of the shoulder straps having a plurality of spaced-apart loops secured to the shoulder straps, said loops being positioned and adapted to secure at least one elastic resistance device to the shoulder straps, wherein the resistance device is accessible and extendable between the loops for performing resistance training exercises; and   one or more access openings in the shoulder straps spaced between the plurality of loops, wherein the resistance device is secured to the shoulder strap and is extendable through said one or more access openings for performing resistance exercises.   
     
     
         18 . The exercise training apparats of  claim 17  further comprising a fastener on the back portion for securing the resistance device to the back portion and adjusting a tension of the resistance device. 
     
     
         19 . The exercise training apparatus of  claim 18  wherein the resistance device is a flat resistance band. 
     
     
         20 . The wearable resistance training apparatus of  claim 17  wherein the resistance training apparatus is configured to couple an adjustable waist belt to the distal end of the back portion.
