Crown Gravity Helix Helmet
Abstract
The disclosed invention relates to a sport helmet designed for enhanced comfort and functionality, particularly for users with textured or voluminous hair. The helmet includes an outer shell with an opening bordered by a silk band and hard shell, allowing hair to pass through without damage. A multi-layer liner features a silk top layer, padding foam to prevent slippage, and optionally antimicrobial or moisture-wicking materials. The design accommodates various hair types and includes features such as anti-static treatments, modular panels, quick-release fasteners, and ventilation channels to improve usability and wearability.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A safety helmet configured to accommodate and protect voluminous, kinky, coily, or textured hair, comprising:
an outer shell formed of impact-resistant material; a shock-absorbing foam liner beneath the outer shell; a comfort liner beneath the foam liner; at least one expandable and contractible opening disposed on the outer shell, the opening comprising:
a bottom layer made of silk or satin;
a top shell layer made of the same material as the outer shell; and
an adjustment mechanism configured to expand or contract both the bottom and top shell layers;
a retention or fit adjustment system disposed at a rear portion of the helmet; and an internal liner system including an elastic silk or satin edge band, a full-head silk or satin liner, and an impact-absorbing padding liner adapted to protect hair types 3 and 4.
2 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the outer shell is formed from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
3 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the shock-absorbing foam liner comprises expanded polystyrene (EPS), expanded polypropylene (EPP), or a multi-directional impact protection system (MIPS).
4 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the comfort liner comprises moisture-wicking padding for increased wearer comfort.
5 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the expandable and contractible opening is positioned at the top of the helmet.
6 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the expandable and contractible opening is positioned at a rear-lower portion of the helmet.
7 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the adjustment mechanism comprises a drawstring system operatively coupled to the bottom and top shell layers.
8 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the adjustment mechanism comprises an electronically actuated system controlled by a user-operable button.
9 . The helmet of claim 8 , further comprising a location-tracking module integrated into the helmet.
10 . The helmet of claim 1 , further comprising a ventilation system formed in the outer shell to provide airflow to the interior of the helmet.
11 . The helmet of claim 1 , further comprising a detachable and adjustable visor coupled to the outer shell.
12 . The helmet of claim 11 , wherein the visor is selected from a plurality of styles and colors.
13 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the retention or fit adjustment system comprises a ratchet, sliding, or dial-based mechanism for adjusting helmet circumference.
14 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the expandable and contractible opening is configured to allow hair to pass through without compression damage.
15 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner liner system prevents slippage of the helmet during movement.
16 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the helmet further comprises additional layers of foam padding configured for high-volume or high-density hair textures.
17 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the elastic edge band and full-head liner are composed of silk or satin for reduced friction and hair protection, and further comprising a chin strap system configured to securely retain the helmet on a user's head during use.
18 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner liner is detachable for cleaning or replacement, and further comprising a chin strap system comprising adjustable fasteners to accommodate different head and jaw sizes.
19 . The helmet of claim 1 , wherein the expandable and contractible openings are adapted to conform around afro, bun, puff, or ponytail hairstyles, and wherein the helmet further includes a chin strap system configured to maintain helmet stability without compressing the hairstyle.
20 . A method of protecting voluminous or textured hair while wearing a safety helmet, comprising:
placing a helmet comprising an outer shell, a shock-absorbing liner, a comfort liner, an inner silk or satin liner system, and a chin strap system on a user's head; adjusting a retention or fit system and the chin strap system to secure the helmet; expanding an aperture in the outer shell to allow hair to pass through without compression; contracting the aperture to conform around the hair and prevent debris ingress; and optionally locating the helmet using a tracking feature integrated into the helmet.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
