Wireline back pressure valve conveyance with lubricator polished rod
Abstract
Wireline back pressure valve (BPV) conveyance with lubricator polished rod includes a wireline BPV, a lubricator polished rod and a hydraulic lubricator. The wireline BPV can regulate/isolate pressure of hydrocarbons flowed through a wellbore formed from an offshore platform through a subterranean zone beneath a seabed. The lubricator polished rod is coupled to the wireline BPV and can run the wireline BPV into the wellbore. The hydraulic lubricator is coupled to the lubricator polished rod and can apply hydraulic lubrication to the lubricator polished rod. The lubricator polished rod runs the wireline BPV into the wellbore in response to the hydraulic lubrication applied by the hydraulic lubricator.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A wellbore completion comprising:
a wireline back pressure valve (BPV) configured to regulate or isolate pressure of hydrocarbons flowed through a wellbore formed from an offshore platform through a subterranean zone beneath a seabed; a lubricator polished rod coupled to the wireline BPV, the lubricator polished valve configured to run the wireline BPV into the wellbore; a hydraulic lubricator coupled to the lubricator polished rod, the hydraulic lubricator configured to apply hydraulic lubrication to the lubricator polished rod, wherein the lubricator polished rod runs the wireline BPV into the wellbore in response to the hydraulic lubrication applied by the hydraulic lubricator, wherein the wireline BPV is at a downhole end of the well completion; a locking sub configured to couple to and reside uphole of the wireline BPV, the locking sub configured to couple and decouple the wireline BPV to and from, respectively, the wellbore completion; and a crossover sub configured to couple to and reside uphole of the locking sub, the crossover sub configured to couple and decouple the wireline BPV to and from, respectively, the wellbore completion, wherein the crossover sub comprises a housing comprising a receiving portion defined by an axial recessed opening on one end of the housing, the receiving portion configured to receive a downhole end of the lubricator polished rod, and a connecting portion defined by another axial recessed opening on an opposite end of the housing, the connecting portion configured to couple to the locking sub.
2 . (canceled)
3 . The well completion of claim 1 , wherein the locking sub comprises a sucker rod-type top pin thread to couple the locking sub to the wireline BPV.
4 . (canceled)
5 . The well completion of claim 1 , wherein the crossover sub comprises a polished rod bottom connection configured to couple to an uphole end of the locking sub.
6 . The well completion of claim 1 , wherein a Christmas tree is installed on the offshore platform at the entrance of the wellbore, wherein the well completion further comprises an adapter connected to the Christmas tree to connect the hydraulic lubricator to the Christmas tree.
7 . The well completion of claim 6 , further comprising a plurality of valves coupled to the adapter, the plurality of valves configured to control flow of hydraulic fluid to move the lubricator polished rod in an uphole or a downhole direction.
8 . The well completion of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of valves are coupled to a pump selector configured to transition between different positions to control the flow of the hydraulic fluid through the plurality of valves.
9 . The well completion of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of valves are coupled to a selector valve by a plurality of hoses configured to flow the hydraulic fluid.
10 . A method comprising:
forming a wellbore from an offshore platform through a subterranean zone beneath a seabed; coupling a lubricator polished rod to a wireline back pressure valve; coupling a hydraulic lubricator to the lubricator polished rod and the wireline BPV, the lubricator polished rod and the hydraulic lubricator forming a well completion; and running the well completion into the wellbore, wherein the wireline BPV is at a downhole end of the well completion, wherein the method further comprises coupling and decoupling the wireline BPV to and from, respectively, the lubricator polished rod using a locking sub coupled to and residing uphole of the wireline BPV, wherein the method further comprises coupling and decoupling the locking sub to and from the lubricator polished rod using a crossover sub coupled to and residing uphole of the locking sub, the crossover sub coupling and decoupling the wireline BPV to and from, respectively, the wellbore completion, wherein the crossover sub comprises a housing comprising a receiving portion defined by an axial recessed opening on one end of the housing, the receiving portion configured to receive a downhole end of the lubricator polished rod, and a connecting portion defined by another axial recessed opening on an opposite end of the housing, the connecting portion configured to couple to the locking sub.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein running the well completion into the wellbore comprises stroking the lubricator polished rod using the hydraulic lubricator.
12 . (canceled)
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the locking sub comprises a sucker rod-type top pin thread, wherein the locking sub is coupled to the wireline BPV using the sucker rod-type top pin thread.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein a Christmas tree is installed on the offshore platform at the entrance of the wellbore, wherein the method further comprises connecting the hydraulic lubricator to the Christmas tree using an adapter.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising flowing hydraulic fluid using a plurality of valves controlled by a pump selector, the hydraulic fluid flowed to move the lubricator polished rod in an uphole or in a downhole direction.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
