Golf club head including a removable weight

Abstract

The presently disclosed technology is directed to a removable weight including a body portion. The body portion may include one or more body cavities and one or more body weights to fit into the one or more body cavities.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A golf club head comprises a lower muscle portion comprising a back flange comprising a weight recess, and wherein the golf club head further comprises a removable weight to fit into the weight recess, wherein the removable weight comprises:
 a body portion comprising one or more body cavities;   one or more body weights to fit into the one or more body cavities, wherein the one or more body weights are each less than about 1.5 grams;   a cover portion to cover the weight recess;   a weight height between about 12 mm to about 20 mm;   a weight width between about 60 mm and about 65 mm; and   a weight depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         2 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more body weights are cylindrical or spherical. 
     
     
         3 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more body weights comprise a body weight diameter between about 1 mm to about 5 mm. 
     
     
         4 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein a total weight of the one or more body weights is less than about 30% of a rest of the removable weight. 
     
     
         5 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein a number of the one or more body cavities is between about 3 to about 9. 
     
     
         6 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein the body portion comprises:
 a body height between about 9 mm and about 13 mm;   a body width between about 40 mm and about 45 mm; and   a body depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         7 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein the cover portion comprises:
 a cover height between about 3 mm and about 7 mm;   a cover width between about 60 mm and about 65 mm; and   a cover depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         8 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more body cavities form a pattern, and wherein the pattern repeats across a vertical plane through a center of the removable weight. 
     
     
         9 . A golf club head comprising:
 a striking face portion;   a back portion comprising:
 an upper blade portion; 
 a gutter extending downward from the upper blade portion; and 
 a lower muscle portion extending downward from the gutter, wherein the lower muscle portion comprises:
 a back flange, wherein the back flange comprises a weight recess; and 
 a sole extending backward from a lower portion of the striking face portion to the back flange; and 
 
   a removable weight to fit into at least the weight recess, comprising:
 a body portion covered by the sole in an installed position, wherein the body portion fits into a portion of the weight recess, and wherein the body portion comprises a body cavity; 
 a body weight, wherein the body weight is a mixture to fill the body cavity, wherein the body weight is up to about 10.0 g; and 
 a cover portion to cover the weight recess in the installed position. 
   
     
     
         10 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein the body weight comprises a body cavity depth between about 1 mm to about 8 mm. 
     
     
         11 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein a total weight of the body weight is less than about 30% of a rest of the removable weight. 
     
     
         12 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , the removable weight further comprises:
 a weight height between about 12 mm to about 20 mm;   a weight width between about 60 mm and about 65 mm; and   a weight depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         13 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein the body portion comprises:
 a body height between about 9 mm and about 13 mm;   a body width between about 40 mm and about 45 mm; and   a body depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         14 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein the cover portion comprises:
 a cover height between about 3 mm and about 7 mm;   a cover width between about 60 mm and about 65 mm; and   a cover depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm.   
     
     
         15 . A golf club head comprises a lower muscle portion comprising a back flange comprising a weight recess, and wherein the golf club head further comprises a removable weight to fit into the weight recess, wherein the removable weight comprises:
 a body portion comprising:
 a repeating pattern of one or more body cavities; 
 one or more body weights to fit into the one or more body cavities, wherein the one or more body weights are each between 0.25 grams about 1.5 grams; 
 a body height between about 9 mm and about 13 mm; 
 a body width between about 40 mm and about 45 mm; and 
 a body depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm; and 
   a cover portion to cover the weight recess, wherein the cover portion comprises:
 a cover height between about 3 mm and about 7 mm; 
 a cover width between about 60 mm and about 65 mm; and 
 a cover depth between about 4 mm and about 9 mm. 
   
     
     
         16 . The golf club head of  claim 15 , wherein the one or more body weights are cylindrical or spherical. 
     
     
         17 . The golf club head of  claim 15 , wherein each of the one or more body cavities comprise a body weight depth between about 1 mm to about 8 mm. 
     
     
         18 . The golf club head of  claim 15 , wherein a total weight of the one or more body weights is less than about 30% of a rest of the removable weight. 
     
     
         19 . The golf club head of  claim 15 , wherein a number of the one or more body cavities is between about 3 to about 9. 
     
     
         20 . The golf club head of  claim 15 , wherein the repeating pattern repeats across a vertical plane through a center of the removable weight.
