Abstract

A modular bed is disclosed. The modular bed includes a base formed by a plurality of panels. The plurality of panels are collectively interconnected in a vertically upright alignment to form an enclosure therebetween. The modular bed includes a bridge disposed within the enclosure and coupled to parallel panels from the plurality of panels. The modular bed further includes a mattress platform adjoined to the base and the bridge.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A modular bed, comprising:
 a base formed by a plurality of panels, wherein the plurality of panels are collectively interconnected in a vertically upright alignment to form an enclosure therebetween;   a bridge disposed within the enclosure and coupled to parallel panels from the plurality of panels; and   a mattress platform adjoined to the base and the bridge.   
     
     
         2 . The modular bed of  claim 1 , wherein each panel from the plurality of panels comprises:
 a first edge; and   a second edge oppositely disposed to the first edge, wherein the second edge of each panel is coupled to the first edge of a sequential panel.   
     
     
         3 . The modular bed of  claim 2 , wherein the first edge of each panel comprises:
 at least one first type-coupler,
 wherein each of the at least one first type-coupler comprises:
 a first-type pin. 
 
   
     
     
         4 . The modular bed of  claim 3 , wherein the second edge of each panel comprises:
 at least one second type-coupler, comprising:
 a receptacle configured to accommodate the first-type pin to adjoin each panel to interconnect the plurality of panels. 
   
     
     
         5 . The modular bed of  claim 2 , wherein each panel comprises:
 a bottom leading edge;   a top leading edge oppositely disposed to the bottom leading edge, the top leading edge comprising:
 a first-type slot; and 
 at least one second-type pin formed thereon; and 
   an intermediate panel portion disposed between the bottom leading edge and the top leading edge, wherein the intermediate panel portion is configured to accommodate an arm of a latch mechanism.   
     
     
         6 . The modular bed of  claim 1 , wherein the bridge further comprises:
 a longitudinal member, comprising:
 a first end; 
 a second end oppositely disposed to the first end; and 
 a longitudinal portion formed between the first end and the second end; and 
   at least one support pillar adjoined perpendicular to the longitudinal portion.   
     
     
         7 . The modular bed of  claim 1 , wherein the mattress platform further comprises:
 at least one sub-platform, each sub-platform comprising:
 a rim; and 
 a support layer formed within the rim, the support layer comprising:
 a top surface; 
 a bottom surface oppositely disposed to the top surface; 
 an intermediate support surface formed between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the intermediate support surface is configured to accommodate a hook for a latch mechanism; and 
 a second-type slot formed on the bottom surface. 
 
   
     
     
         8 . The modular bed of  claim 6 , wherein to adjoin the mattress platform to the base:
 the first end of the longitudinal member is coupled to the first-type slot of a first panel from the parallel panels;   the second end of the longitudinal member is coupled to the first-type slot of a second panel parallel to the first panel;   the second-type pin is accommodated within the second-type slot; and   the arm of the latch mechanism is engaged to the hook for the latch mechanism.   
     
     
         9 . The modular bed of  claim 7 , wherein the rim is disposed at a predefined distance from the base after the mattress platform is adjoined to the base. 
     
     
         10 . A base for a modular bed, comprising:
 a plurality of panels, each panel comprising:
 a first edge; and 
 a second edge oppositely disposed to the first edge, wherein the second edge of each panel is coupled to the first edge of a sequential panel for interconnecting the plurality of panels in a vertically upright alignment. 
   
     
     
         11 . The base of  claim 10 , wherein the first edge of each panel comprises:
 at least one first type-coupler,
 wherein each of the at least one first type-coupler comprises:
 a first-type pin. 
 
   
     
     
         12 . The base of  claim 11 , wherein the second edge of each panel comprises:
 at least one second type-coupler, comprising:
 a receptacle configured to accommodate the first-type pin of the at least one first type-coupler to adjoin each panel to interconnect the plurality of panels. 
   
     
     
         13 . The base of  claim 10 , wherein each panel comprises:
 a bottom leading edge; and   a top leading edge oppositely disposed to the bottom leading edge, the top leading edge comprising:
 a first-type slot; 
 at least one second-type pin formed thereon; and 
 an intermediate panel portion disposed between the bottom leading edge and the top leading edge, wherein the intermediate panel portion is configured to accommodate an arm of a latch mechanism. 
   
     
     
         14 . A bridge, comprising:
 a first longitudinal member, comprising:
 a first end; 
 a second end oppositely disposed to the first end; and 
 a first longitudinal portion formed between the first end and the second end; and 
   at least one support pillar adjoined perpendicular to the first longitudinal portion.   
     
     
         15 . The bridge of  claim 14 , wherein each pillar of the at least one support pillar comprises:
 a pair of parallel vertical columns separated by a separation distance, wherein the separation distance is less than a width of the first longitudinal member, and wherein the pair of parallel vertical columns are interconnected with a horizontal member having a length equivalent to the separation distance.   
     
     
         16 . The bridge of  claim 14 , wherein each support pillar of the at least one support pillar comprises:
 a first pillar end adjoined perpendicular to the first longitudinal portion;   a second pillar end oppositely disposed from the first pillar end; and   a second longitudinal portion oppositely disposed from the first longitudinal portion, wherein the second longitudinal portion is adjoined to the second pillar end of at least one support pillar.   
     
     
         17 . A mattress platform for a modular bed, the mattress platform comprising:
 a rim; and   a support layer formed within the rim, the support layer comprising:
 a top surface; 
 a bottom surface oppositely disposed to the top surface; and 
 an intermediate support surface formed between the top surface and the bottom surface. 
   
     
     
         18 . The mattress platform of  claim 17 , wherein the support layer further comprises:
 a planar framework, comprising:
 a plurality of planar support bars arranged in cross-arrangement. 
   
     
     
         19 . A method of assembling a modular bed, the method comprising:
 forming a base with a plurality of panels, each panel comprising:
 a first edge; 
 a second edge oppositely disposed to the first edge; 
 a bottom leading edge; and 
 a top leading edge oppositely disposed to the bottom leading edge; 
   interconnecting collectively, the second edge of each panel to the first edge of a sequential panel in a vertically upright alignment for forming an enclosure therebetween;   positioning a bridge within the enclosure;   coupling the bridge to the top leading edge of each parallel panels from the plurality of panels; and   adjoining a mattress platform to the top leading edge of each panel from the plurality of panels, and to the bridge.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein interconnecting collectively each panel further comprises:
 the first edge comprising:
 at least one first type-coupler, 
 wherein each of the at least one first type-coupler comprises:
 a first-type pin; and 
 
   the second edge of each panel comprises:
 at least one second type-coupler, comprising:
 a receptacle; and 
 
   accommodating the first-type pin within the receptacle for collectively interconnecting the plurality of panels.   
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein coupling the bridge to the top leading edges of each parallel panels further comprises:
 the bridge comprising:
 a longitudinal member, comprising:
 a first end; 
 a second end oppositely disposed to the first end; and 
 a longitudinal portion formed between the first end and the second end; and 
 at least one support pillar adjoined perpendicular to the longitudinal portion; 
 
   the each top leading edge comprising:
 a first-type slot; and 
 at least one second-type pin formed thereon; and 
 an intermediate panel portion disposed between the bottom leading edge and the top leading edge for accommodating an arm of a latch mechanism; and 
   accommodating the first end and the second end to a first-type slot of the parallel panels for coupling the bridge to the top leading edges of each parallel panels.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein adjoining the mattress platform to the top leading edge of each panel further comprises:
 the mattress platform further comprising:
 at least one sub-platform, each sub-platform comprising:
 a rim; and 
 a support layer formed within the rim, the support layer comprising: 
 a top surface; 
 a bottom surface oppositely disposed to the top surface; 
 an intermediate support surface formed between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the intermediate support surface is configured to accommodate a hook for a latch mechanism; and 
 
 a second-type slot formed on the bottom surface. 
   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein adjoining the mattress platform to the top leading edge of each panel further comprises:
 coupling the first end of the longitudinal member to the first-type slot of a first panel from the parallel panels;   coupling the second end of the longitudinal member to the first-type slot of a second panel parallel to the first panel;   accommodating the second-type pin within the second-type slot; and   engaging the arm of the latch mechanism to the hook for the latch mechanism.
