Abstract

Reinforced fence rail with enhanced extrusion pattern and removable steel insert is disclosed. The fence rail of the present invention provides a stable reinforcement over conventional designs.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A reinforced fence rail comprising a generally U-shaped panel opening at one end, the U-shaped panel opening being designed and constructed to accept a fence panel therein, wherein the reinforced fence rail further comprises a steel insert designed and constructed to accept a steel insert therein. 
     
     
         2 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 1 , further comprising a steel insert positioned in a center portion of panel opening to support a fence panel when inserted within the panel opening. 
     
     
         3 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 1 , further comprising an enhanced extrusion pattern comprises a first horizontal member that extends across the width of fence rail and is positioned proximate the end opposite the panel opening. 
     
     
         4 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 3 , wherein the enhanced extrusion pattern further comprises first and second angled members that extend from one end of steel insert pocket and are angled to a side wall of the fence rail. 
     
     
         5 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 3 , wherein the first and second angled members extend at approximately a 45-degree angle from the side wall of fence rail to the side wall of steel insert pocket. 
     
     
         6 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 3 , wherein the enhanced extrusion pattern further comprises first and second side members that extend at a 90-degree angle from the side wall of fence rail proximate the closed end of panel opening. 
     
     
         7 . The reinforced fence rail of  claim 6 , wherein the enhanced extrusion pattern further comprises third and fourth side wall members that extend at a 90-degree angle from the panel opening to the side wall of fence rail proximate the open end of panel opening.
