Abstract

In an example, a closure engaging part comprises a plurality of threaded portions, wherein a portion of a screw thread is provided on each threaded portion. In some examples the closure engaging molded fiber part further comprises a flexible portion between and connecting a pair of threaded portions, wherein the flexible portions are more flexible than the threaded portions.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A closure engaging part comprising:
a plurality of threaded portions, wherein a portion of a screw thread is provided on each threaded portion; and a flexible portion between and connecting a pair of threaded portions, wherein the flexible portions are more flexible than the threaded portions.

2 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 1 wherein the closure engaging part is a molded fiber part.

3 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the flexible portions and threaded portions are integrally formed in a pulp molding process.

4 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the screw thread is defined using a hot pressing process.

5 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 1 , comprising at least three threaded portions and two flexible portions.

6 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each threaded portion has a circular arc shaped cross section.

7 . A closure engaging part as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a securing means, wherein the securing means comprises an adhesive, tape or mechanical fixing.

         8 . A container comprising:
a body; a closure engaging part secured around an opening of the body, the closure engaging part comprising:
 a first threaded portion comprising a first portion of a screw thread;
a second threaded portion comprising a second portion of a screw thread; and
a flexible portion without a screw thread connecting the first and second threaded portions.

9 . A container as claimed in claim 8 wherein at least one of the body and the closure engaging part are formed from molded fibers.

10 . A container as claimed in claim 8 further comprising:
a sealing member arranged around the opening of the body, which when a closure is screwed onto the screw thread provides a seal between the container and the closure.

         11 . A method comprising:
forming a plurality of threaded portions of a closure engaging object, each comprising a portion of a screw thread; and forming a flexible portion, wherein the flexible portion provides a flexible connection between two of the threaded portions.

12 . A method as claimed in claim 11 wherein forming the plurality of threaded portions and forming the flexible portion are performed in a fiber molding operation and are formed on a fiber molding screen.

13 . A method as claimed in claim 11 wherein forming the portions of screw thread on the plurality of threaded portions comprises hot pressing the plurality of threaded portions.

14 . A method as claimed in claim 11 further comprising:
attaching the closure engaging object around an opening of a container.

15 . A method as claimed in claim 14 wherein attaching the closure engaging object comprises:
providing an adhesive on the container or on the closure engaging object; and
wrapping the closure engaging object around the opening of the container to adhere the molded fiber object to the container.
