Face Covering Spacer For Use With Eyewear and Headwear
Abstract
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, the spacer including a first attachment point, a second attachment point, and a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between the first and second attachment points. The first support member can be configured for disposition in front of the face of the wearer to distance the face covering from the mouth of the wearer to create a space therebetween. The first and second attachment points can be configured to releasably couple the first support member to eyewear and/or headwear.
Claims

5 . The spacer of claim 4 , wherein said curve facilitates the outward extension which disposes said first support member in front of said face of said wearer to laterally traverse said face and bridge said mouth of said wearer.
6 . The spacer of claim 5 , wherein said curve facilitates the lateral traversal of said first support member across said face of said wearer without contacting said face when worn.
7 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein the downward extension of said first support member facilitates disposition of said first support member below a top plane extending through said first and second attachment points.
8 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein the downward extension of said first support member facilitates disposition of said first support member proximate a nose, said mouth, a jawline, or a chin of said wearer.
9 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member disposes downwardly and extends outwardly in front of a chin of said wearer.
10 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member disposes downwardly and extends outwardly in front of a jawline of said wearer.
11 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member disposes downwardly and extends outwardly in front of said mouth of said wearer.
12 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member disposes downwardly and extends outwardly in front of a nose of said wearer.
13 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein, for the outward and downward extension, said first support member disposes along an angled plane between a top plane and a front plane.
14 . The spacer of claim 13 , wherein said top plane and said front plane both pass through said first and second attachment points.
15 . The spacer of claim 13 , wherein said top plane and said front plane both pass through a center of said first and second attachment points.
16 . The spacer of claim 13 , wherein the outward and downward extension of said first support member is between a positive (+) z-axis and a negative (−) y-axis.
17 . The spacer of claim 16 , wherein said z-axis and said y-axis both pass through said first and second attachment points.

21 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently downwardly between said first and second attachment points such that said first support member disposes below the eyes of said wearer.
22 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently downwardly between said first and second attachment points such that said first support member does not interfere with (i) line of sight, (ii) central vision, and/or (iii) peripheral vision of said wearer.
23 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 0.5 inches.
24 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 0.75 inches.
25 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 1 inch.
26 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 1.25 inches.
27 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 1.5 inches.
28 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 1.75 inches.
29 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 2 inches.
30 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 2.25 inches.
31 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently outwardly and downwardly between said first and second attachment points to space said face covering from said mouth of said wearer by a distance of at least about 2.5 inches.
32 . The spacer of claim 2 , said first attachment point coupled to said first support member first end, and said second attachment point coupled to said first support member second end.
33 . The spacer of claim 2 , said first attachment point integrated with said first support member first end, and said second attachment point integrated with said first support member second end.
34 . The spacer of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first attachment element which couples to said first attachment point; and a second attachment element which couples to said second attachment point.
35 . The spacer of claim 34 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to glasses.
36 . The spacer of claim 34 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to goggles.
37 . The spacer of claim 36 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to a frame of said goggles.
38 . The spacer of claim 36 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to a strap of said goggles.
39 . The spacer of claim 34 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to sunglasses.
40 . The spacer of claim 34 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to a hat or a visor.
41 . The spacer of claim 34 , wherein said first and second attachment elements releasably couple said first support member to a helmet.

48 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said face covering comprises a face covering width sufficient to span said first support member from proximate said first attachment point to proximate said second attachment point to cover the portion of said face of said wearer disposing therebetween.
49 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said face covering comprises a face covering length sufficient to extend downwardly and cover at least a portion of the front of a neck of said wearer.
50 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said face covering comprises a face covering length sufficient to extend downwardly and cover the entirety of the front of a neck of said wearer.
51 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said face covering comprises a face covering length sufficient to extend downwardly and beyond the front of a neck of said wearer.
52 . The spacer of claim 1 , wherein said face covering releasably couples to said spacer.
53 . The spacer of claim 1 , further comprising a shape-retaining second support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points;
said second support member configured for disposition in front of said face of said wearer.
54 . The spacer of claim 53 , wherein said second support member comprises a second support member length which extends between opposing second support member first and second ends;
wherein said second support member first end couples to said first attachment point and said second support member second end couples to said second attachment point.
55 . The spacer of claim 53 , said first attachment point integrated with said second support member first end, and said second attachment point integrated with said second support member second end.
56 . The spacer of claim 53 , wherein said second support member comprises a convex curve between second support member first and second ends.
57 . The spacer of claim 56 , wherein said curve facilitates the outward extension which disposes said second support member in front of said face of said wearer to laterally traverse said face of said wearer.
58 . The spacer of claim 57 , wherein said curve facilitates the lateral traversal of said second support member across said face of said wearer without contacting said face when worn.
59 . The spacer of claim 53 , wherein the downward extension of said second support member facilitates disposition of said second support member below a top plane extending through said first and second attachment points.
60 . The spacer of claim 53 , wherein, for the outward and downward extension, said second support member disposes along an angled plane between a top plane and a front plane.
61 . The spacer of claim 60 , wherein said top plane and said front plane both pass through said first and second attachment points.

71 . The spacer of claim 53 , further comprising one or more additional laterally extending support members.
72 . The spacer of claim 53 , further comprising one or more intermediate support members extending between said first and second support members.
73 . A spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
a first attachment point; a second attachment point; a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points; and said face covering; said first support member configured for disposition in front of a face of said wearer to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween; said first and second attachment points configured to releasably couple said first support member to eyewear and/or headwear.
74 . A spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
a first attachment point; a second attachment point; a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points; and eyewear and/or headwear; said first support member configured for disposition in front of a face of said wearer to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween; said first and second attachment points configured to releasably couple said first support member to said eyewear and/or said headwear.
75 . A spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
a first attachment point; a second attachment point; a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points; a face covering; and eyewear and/or headwear; said first support member configured for disposition in front of a face of said wearer to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween; said first and second attachment points configured to releasably couple said first support member to said eyewear and/or said headwear.
76 . A method of making a spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
providing a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between first and second attachment points; coupling a first attachment element to said first attachment point; and coupling a second attachment element to said second attachment point; said first support member configured for disposition in front of a face of said wearer to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween; said first and second attachment element configured to releasably couple said first support member to eyewear and/or headwear.
77 . The method of claim 76 , wherein:
coupling said first attachment element to said first attachment point comprises integrating said first attachment element with said first attachment point; and coupling said second attachment element to said second attachment point comprises integrating said second attachment element with said second attachment point.
78 . The method of claim 76 , wherein said first and second attachment elements comprise magnets.
79 . The method of claim 76 , further comprising coupling a shape-retaining second support member to said first support member;
wherein said second support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points.
80 . The method of claim 79 , further comprising disposing said first and second support members in spaced apart relation.
81 . A method of using a spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
obtaining said spacer comprising:
a first attachment point;
a second attachment point; and
a shape-retaining first support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points;
releasably coupling said spacer to eyewear and/or headwear via said first and second attachment points; coupling a face covering to said spacer; wearing said eyewear and/or said headwear; wherein upon wearing, said first support member disposes in front of a face of said wearer to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween.
82 . The method of claim 81 , wherein said spacer further comprises a shape-retaining second support member outwardly and downwardly extending between said first and second attachment points;
wherein upon wearing, said second support member disposes in front of a face of said wearer.
83 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising releasably coupling said spacer to said eyewear or said headwear via magnets.
84 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising adjusting a length of said first support member.
85 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising angularly adjusting said first support member.
86 . The method of claim 82 , further comprising angularly adjusting said second support member.
87 . The method of claim 82 , further comprising angularly adjusting one of said first and second support members relative to the other.
88 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising moving said spacer upward for stowage on a head of said wearer.
89 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising uncoupling said spacer from said eyewear or said headwear.
90 . The method of claim 81 , further comprising uncoupling said face covering from said spacer.
91 . A spacer for spacing a face covering from a mouth of a wearer, comprising:
a first attachment point; a second attachment point; a shape-retaining first support member coupled to said first and second attachment points, said first support member comprising a convex curve between first support member first and second ends which outwardly extends between said first and second attachment points; and a shape-retaining second support member coupled to said first and second attachment points, said second support member comprising a convex curve between second support member first and second ends which outwardly extends between said first and second attachment points;
wherein said second support member disposes above said first support member in vertically spaced-apart relation;
wherein said first support member outwardly extends beyond said second support member;
wherein said first and second attachment points are configured to releasably couple said first and second support members to eyewear and/or headwear; and
wherein when said spacer is worn in front of a face of said wearer:
said first and second support members downwardly extend between said first and second attachment points to dispose below a top plane extending through said first and second attachment points; and
said first and second support members dispose in front of said face of said wearer without contacting said face to distance said face covering from said mouth of said wearer to create a space therebetween.
92 . The spacer of claim 91 , wherein the downward extension of said first support member is configured to facilitate disposition of said first support member proximate a nose, said mouth, a jawline, or a chin of said wearer.
93 . The spacer of claim 91 , wherein, for the outward and downward extension, said first support member disposes along an angled plane between said top plane and a front plane.
94 . The spacer of claim 93 , wherein said top plane and said front plane both pass through said first and second attachment points.
95 . The spacer of claim 91 , wherein said first support member extends sufficiently downwardly between said first and second attachment points such that said first support member is configured to dispose below the eyes of said wearer.
96 . The spacer of claim 91 , further comprising:
a first attachment element which couples to said first attachment point; and a second attachment element which couples to said second attachment point.
97 . The spacer of claim 96 , wherein said first and second attachment elements are configured to releasably couple said first support member to goggles.
