Adjustable pool cleaning tool

Abstract

A pool cleaning tool includes a brush head having an elongate frame and bristles extending therefrom; a first repositionable member attached to a first end of the elongate frame; and a second repositionable member attached to a second end of the elongate frame, wherein each of the first repositionable member and the second repositionable member includes: a forward end pivotally coupled to the elongate frame about a rotation axis; an upper surface configured to be rotatable about the rotation axis, the upper surface configured to force the bristles against a surface being cleaned as a result of the brush head being pushed through water in a direction perpendicular to a direction at which the bristles extend; and a locking mechanism configured to selectively retain the upper surface in each of a plurality of positions with respect to elongate frame.

         21 . A pool cleaning tool comprising:
 a generally tubular body for attaching the pool cleaning tool to an elongate handle;   an elongate support base extending from a first end to a second end and having an upper surface and a lower surface, the elongate support base having the generally tubular body coupled thereto at a location between the first and second ends;   a plurality of bristles extending below the lower surface of the elongate support base;   a first movable pressure member coupled to the elongate support base, the first movable pressure member being at least partially positioned between the generally tubular body and the first end of the elongate support base; and   a second movable pressure member coupled to the elongate support base, the second movable pressure member being at least partially positioned between the generally tubular body and the second end of the elongate support base,   wherein each movable pressure member of the first and second movable pressure members comprises an upper surface positioned at least partially above the upper surface of the elongate support base, the upper surfaces of the first and second movable pressure members being configured to force the plurality of bristles against a surface being cleaned as a result of the pool cleaning tool being pushed through water in a direction perpendicular to a direction at which the plurality of bristles extend, and   wherein each movable pressure member of the first and second movable pressure members is movably coupled to the elongate support base, such that an orientation of the upper surface of each of the first and second movable pressure members is adjustable with respect to the upper surface of the elongate support base.   
     
     
         22 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein each movable pressure member of the first and second movable pressure members is pivotally coupled to the elongate support base about an axis. 
     
     
         23 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein the first movable pressure member is positioned such that at least a portion of the first movable pressure member extends outward beyond the first end of the elongate support base, and
 wherein the second movable pressure member is positioned such that at least a portion of the second movable pressure member extends outward beyond the second end of the elongate support base.   
     
     
         24 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein the first movable pressure member is positioned such that the first movable pressure member is outward of the generally tubular body and inward of the first end of the elongate support base, and
 wherein the second movable pressure member is positioned such that the second movable pressure member is outward of the generally tubular body and inward of the second end of the elongate support base.   
     
     
         25 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein the first movable pressure member is positioned such that the first movable pressure member extends from the generally tubular body to the first end of the elongate support base, and
 wherein the second movable pressure member is positioned such that the second movable pressure member extends from the generally tubular body to the second end of the elongate support base.   
     
     
         26 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein each of the first movable pressure member and the second movable pressure member is directly movably coupled to the elongate support base. 
     
     
         27 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein the first movable pressure member is movably coupled to the elongate support base through a first separate body, and
 wherein the second movable pressure member is movably coupled to the elongate support base through a second separate body.   
     
     
         28 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 27 , wherein each of the first and second separate bodies comprise additional bristles extending therefrom. 
     
     
         29 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 28 , wherein at least some of the additional bristles extend along a different direction than the direction at which the plurality of bristles extend. 
     
     
         30 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , further comprising additional bristles that extend along a different direction than the direction at which the plurality of bristles extend. 
     
     
         31 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein for each movable pressure member of the first and second movable pressure members:
 the movable pressure member is lockable by a locking mechanism in any of a plurality of predetermined positions, with each of the plurality of predetermined positions corresponding to a different orientation of the upper surface of the movable pressure member with respect to the upper surface of the elongate support base,   wherein the locking mechanism comprises at least one protruding member that mates with at least one recess.   
     
     
         32 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 21 , wherein the upper surface of each of the first and second movable pressure members comprises a generally s-shaped profile. 
     
     
         33 . A pool cleaning tool comprising:
 an elongate support base extending from a first end to a second end and having an upper surface and a lower surface;   a plurality of bristles extending below the lower surface of the elongate support base;   at least one movable pressure member coupled to the elongate support base, each movable pressure member of the at least one movable pressure member comprising:
 a forward end; 
 a rearward end; and 
 an upper member extending from the forward end to the rearward end, the upper member having an upper surface that is positioned at least partially above the upper surface of the elongate support base, 
   wherein, for each movable pressure member of the at least one movable pressure member:
 the movable pressure member is pivotally coupled to the elongate support base about an axis, such that an orientation of the upper surface of the upper member with respect the upper surface of the elongate support base is adjustable, and 
 the movable pressure member is lockable by a locking mechanism in any of a plurality of predetermined positions, with each of the plurality of predetermined positions corresponding to a different orientation of the upper surface of the movable pressure member with respect to the upper surface of the elongate support base. 
   
     
     
         34 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 33 , wherein, for each movable pressure member of the at least one movable pressure member, the locking mechanism comprises at least one protruding member that mates with at least one recess. 
     
     
         35 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 33 , wherein, for each movable pressure member of the at least one movable pressure member, the forward end at least partially defines the axis, and the rearward end at least partially comprises the locking mechanism. 
     
     
         36 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 33 , wherein the at least one movable pressure member comprises two movable pressure members. 
     
     
         37 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 33 , wherein, for each movable pressure member of the at least one movable pressure member, the movable pressure member is pivotally coupled to the elongate support base through a separate body. 
     
     
         38 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 37 , wherein the separate body comprises additional bristles extending therefrom. 
     
     
         39 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 38 , wherein at least some of the additional bristles extend along a different direction than at least some of the plurality of bristles. 
     
     
         40 . The pool cleaning tool of  claim 33 , further comprising additional bristles that extend along a different direction than at least some of the plurality of bristles.
