Abstract

The present invention is direct to a set of golf clubs comprising long irons, mid-irons and short irons. The invention contemplates the use of titanium or steel for the main body portion and tungsten weight members coupled in a hollow cavity and a tungsten heel weight member coupled in a hosel cavity.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf club comprising a club head having a club head mass and center of gravity and being comprised of:
 a y-axis extending vertically through a face center of the club head and a Moment of Inertia about the y-axis, MOIy, a x-axis extending horizontally through a face center of the club head in a heel-to-toe direction and a Moment of Inertia about the x-axis, MOIx, and a z-axis extending vertically through a face center of the club head in a front-to-back direction and a Moment of Inertia about the z-axis, MOIz,   a body comprising a heel, a toe, a topline, a sole, a back wall and a hosel;   a face insert coupled to the body to form a hollow cavity between the face insert and the back wall and having a face center and a face insert mass, the face insert having a face insert thickness at the face center;   a first toe weight member formed of tungsten and is coupled in a lower, toe portion of the hollow cavity;   a first heel weight member formed of tungsten and coupled in a heel portion of the hollow cavity;   a second toe weight member being located in a toe cavity below the center of gravity and adjacent to the first toe weight member, the second toe weight member has a second toe weight member mass; and   a second heel weight member being located in a hosel cavity below the hosel and below the center of gravity and being adjacent to the first heel weight member, the second heel weight member has a second heel weight member mass.   
     
     
         2 . The golf club of  claim 1 , wherein the second toe weight member and the second heel weight member are interchangeable. 
     
     
         3 . The golf club of  claim 2 , wherein the second toe weight member mass and the second heel weight member mass can be increased to increase the club head mass and reduce the center of gravity height. 
     
     
         4 . The golf club of  claim 2 , wherein the second toe weight member mass can be increased and the second heel weight member mass can be decreased move the center of gravity height towards the toe. 
     
     
         5 . The golf club of  claim 2 , wherein the second toe weight member mass can be decreased and the second heel weight member mass can be increased move the center of gravity height towards the heel. 
     
     
         6 . The golf club of  claim 2 , wherein the second toe weight member mass and the second heel weight member mass can be increased to increase the club head mass and reduce the center of gravity height. 
     
     
         7 . The golf club of  claim 2 , wherein the second toe weight member mass is between 1 g and 10 g and the second heel weight member mass is between 1 g and 10 g. 
     
     
         8 . The golf club of  claim 1 , wherein the first toe weight member has a first toe weight member mass that comprises 20% to 35% of the club head mass. 
     
     
         9 . The golf club of  claim 1 , wherein the first heel weight member has a first heel weight member mass plus the second heel weight member mass is of between 7% and 12% of the club head mass. 
     
     
         10 . The golf club of  claim 1 , wherein the second heel weight member is located further from the face center, in a x-direction, than the first heel weight member. 
     
     
         11 . The golf club of  claim 1 , wherein the second toe weight member has a toe weight axis, TWA, that is substantially parallel with a x-direction and the second heel weight member has a heel weight axis, HWA, that is offset from the x-direction by an angle of between 10° and 25°.
