Abstract

A pillow is provided that includes a first panel having an edge defining a perimeter. A second panel has an edge defining a perimeter. A gusset joins the first and second panels. The gusset has a first porosity. The gusset includes a plurality of ports. The ports each have a second porosity that is greater than the first porosity.

         37 . A pillow comprising:
 a first panel;   a second panel;   a gusset joining the first and second panels, the gusset having a first porosity, the gusset comprising a single row of ports, the ports each extending through a thickness of the gusset, the ports each having a second porosity that is greater than the first porosity, wherein the first panel, the second panel and the gusset define a cover; and   a fill material disposed within the cover, the fill material consisting of a foam material,   wherein the pillow is configured to have air enter the cover at least through the first and second panels and have the air exit the cover through the ports.   
     
     
         38 . The pillow recited in  claim 37 , wherein the pillow is free of springs. 
     
     
         39 . The pillow recited in  claim 37 , wherein the cover is an outer cover, the pillow further comprising an inner cover positioned within the outer cover. 
     
     
         40 . The pillow recited in  claim 39 , wherein the inner cover is resistant to airflow therethrough. 
     
     
         41 . The pillow recited in  claim 37 , wherein the gusset is formed from a base material, the ports being larger in size than any pores that may be inherently defined in the base material. 
     
     
         42 . The pillow recited in  claim 41 , wherein the ports are formed during manufacture of the base material. 
     
     
         43 . The pillow recited in  claim 41 , wherein the ports are formed after manufacture of the base material. 
     
     
         44 . The pillow recited in  claim 41 , wherein the ports are formed after manufacture of the base material by cutting the base material. 
     
     
         45 . The pillow recited in  claim 41 , wherein the ports are formed after manufacture of the base material by removing fabric from the base material.

 a first panel;   a second panel;   a gusset joining the first and second panels, the gusset having a first porosity, the gusset comprising a row of ports extending parallel to an axis defined by the gusset, the ports each having a second porosity that is greater than the first porosity, wherein the first panel, the second panel and the gusset define a cover; and   a fill material disposed within the cover, the fill material comprising a compliant fill material such that the pillow is free of springs,   wherein the pillow is configured to have air enter the cover at least through the first and second panels and have the air exit the cover through the ports.   
     
     
         54 . The pillow recited in  claim 53  wherein an interface between the first panel and the gusset comprises a fastener to provide access to a chamber defined by an inner surface of the cover. 
     
     
         55 . A pillow comprising:
 a first panel;   a second panel;   a gusset joining the first and second panels, the gusset having a first porosity, the gusset comprising a row of ports extending parallel to an axis defined by the gusset, the ports each having a second porosity that is greater than the first porosity, wherein the first panel, the second panel and the gusset define a cover; and   a fill material disposed within the cover such that the pillow is free of springs,   wherein the pillow is configured to have air enter the cover at least through the first and second panels and have the air exit the cover through the ports.   
     
     
         56 . The pillow recited in  claim 55 , wherein an interface between the first panel and the gusset comprises a fastener to provide access to a chamber defined by an inner surface of the cover.
