Abstract
Pigment compositions and fibers may include a single pigment component comprising a cobalt titanium oxide complex or a tin titanium zinc oxide complex. The pigment compositions may additionally include one or more additives having compatibilizer, adhesion promoting, and/or dispersion aiding capabilities, and a carrier resin.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A pigment composition comprising:
a single pigment component comprising i) a cobalt titanium oxide complex or ii) a tin titanium zinc oxide complex; one or more additives having compatibilizer, adhesion promoting, and/or dispersion aiding capabilities; and a carrier resin.
2 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the single pigment component is the i) cobalt titanium oxide complex, and wherein the single pigment component confers a blue-green hue to the pigment composition.
3 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the single pigment component is the ii) tin titanium zinc oxide complex, and wherein the single pigment component confers an orange hue to the pigment composition.
4 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the carrier resin is a nylon, polyethylene, or polyethylene terephthalate resin.
5 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the pigment composition exhibits improved end use properties comprising DE less than or equal to 2.00 in weathering at 200 hours.
6 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the pigment composition exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for Rotowash 2A Test Cycle.
7 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the pigment composition exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for wet & dry crock.
8 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the pigment composition exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for heat stability in Nylon.
9 . A method of making the pigment composition of claim 1 , comprising:
mixing the single pigment component, the one or more additives, and the carrier resin; feeding the mixture into an extruder; processing the mixture through the extruder at a melt temperature; and pelletizing the extrudate through strand or under water pelletizing.
10 . A fiber comprising:
a single pigment component comprising a i) cobalt titanium oxide complex or ii) a tin titanium zinc oxide complex; one or more additives having compatibilizer, adhesion promoting, and/or dispersion aiding capabilities; and a carrier resin.
11 . The fiber of claim 10 , wherein the single pigment component is the i) cobalt titanium oxide complex, and wherein the single pigment component confers a blue-green hue to the pigment composition.
12 . The fiber of claim 10 , wherein the single pigment component is the ii) tin titanium zinc oxide complex, and wherein the single pigment component confers an orange hue to the pigment composition.
13 . The fiber of claim 10 , wherein the carrier resin is a nylon, polyethylene, or polyethylene terephthalate resin.
14 . The fiber of claim 10 , wherein the fiber exhibits improved end use properties comprising DE less than or equal to 2.00 in weathering at 200 hours.
15 . The fiber of claim 14 , wherein the fiber exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for Rotowash 2A Test Cycle.
16 . The fiber of claim 15 , wherein the fiber exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for wet & dry crock.
17 . The fiber of claim 16 , wherein the fiber exhibits improved end use properties comprising gray scale 4.00 or above for heat stability in Nylon.
18 . A method of making the fiber of claim 14 comprising:
mixing the single pigment component, the one or more additives, and the carrier resin;
feeding the mixture into a fiber line;
processing the mixture through an extruder at a melt temperature;
drawing a 4:1 extrudate through godets; and
collecting the fiber on a spool.
19 . The pigment composition of claim 1 , wherein the carrier resin is polyethylene terephthalate and wherein the pigment component confers a black hue to the pigment composition.
20 . The fiber of claim 10 , wherein the carrier resin is polyethylene terephthalate and wherein the pigment component confers a black hue to the fiber.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
