Abstract

An improved dumbbell free weight is discussed, which includes a handle and curved weight segments extending radially away from one end of the handle.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

1 . An improved dumbbell, comprising:
 a) a handle extending along a longitudinal axis from one end thereof to an opposing end thereof; and b) a plurality of weight segments, each of the plurality of the weight segments extending radially from the one end of the handle, and wherein each of the weight segments comprises a curved or arc configuration extending along a curved axis relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle.

2 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of weight segments comprises a uniform cross-section along a length thereof from a first end to a second end.

3 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 2 , wherein the uniform cross-section is substantially rectangular.

4 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 2 , wherein the uniform cross-section is one or both of substantially circular and substantially oval.

5 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of collar segments disposed between the one end of the handle and the plurality of weight segments.

6 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the handle comprises a grip disposed at least partially thereon or therearound.

7 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 6 , wherein the grip comprises an elastomeric material.

8 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 6 , wherein the grip comprises one or more of rubber, thermoplastic rubber, foam rubber, polyurethane rubber, silicone rubber, thermoplastic resin and thermoplastic elastomer.

9 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the handle comprises a proprioceptive wrap disposed at least partially therearound.

10 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the handle comprises an opening disposed on the one end thereof.

11 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 10 , further comprising a weight stand having at least one peg extending therefrom, wherein the at least one peg is configured to fit within the opening so as to place or store the improved dumbbell on the at least one peg.

12 . The improved dumbbell as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of weight segments is comprised of one or both of metal material and non-metal materials.
