Abstract

The present disclosure provides an air handler including a body and an axial fan housing disposed within the body. The axial fan housing defines an aperture in fluid communication with an axial fan disposed therein and at least one enclosure located at a corner thereof, such that the at least one enclosure is isolated from a continuous airflow passageway through the aperture of the axial fan housing. The enclosure is configured to house electronic controls therein.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . An air handler comprising:
 a body; and a fan housing disposed within the body, wherein the fan housing comprises:
 an aperture in fluid communication with a fan disposed therein;
 an enclosure formed such that the enclosure extends between a first corner and a second corner of the fan housing, the enclosure configured to house electronic controls;
   wherein the enclosure is isolated from a continuous airflow passageway through the aperture of the fan housing.

         2 . The air handler of claim 1 , wherein the fan is an axial fan.

         3 . The air handler of claim 1 , further comprising:
 an enclosure wall extending between a first side and a second side of the fan housing; wherein the enclosure wall defines a side surface of the enclosure.

         4 . The air handler of claim 3 , wherein the electronic controls comprise a first electronic component and a second electronic component.

         5 . The air handler of claim 4 , wherein the first electronic component and the second electronic component are coupled to the enclosure wall.

         6 . The air handler of claim 3 , wherein the enclosure wall prevents access to the fan.

         7 . The air handler of claim 1 , further comprising:
 one of a first door or a first panel configured to conceal the enclosure.

         8 . The air handler of claim 1 , further comprising:
 an electric heating coil disposed within the fan housing and proximate the fan, the electric heating coil configured to generate heat.

         9 . The air handler of claim 8 , wherein the electric heating coil is a V-shaped evaporator coil, and the fan housing is disposed vertically above the V-shaped evaporator coil.

         10 . The air handler of claim 1 , further comprising:
 a fan safety switch configured to actuate the fan.

         11 . A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system comprising:
 an air handler comprising:
 a body;
 a fan housing disposed within the body, the fan housing comprising:
 an aperture in fluid communication with a fan disposed therein;
 an enclosure formed such that the enclosure extends between a first side and a second side of the fan housing, the enclosure configured to house electronic components;

 wherein the enclosure is isolated from a continuous airflow passageway through the aperture of the fan housing.

         12 . The HVAC system of claim 11 , wherein the fan is an axial fan.

         13 . The HVAC system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 an enclosure wall extending between the first side and the second side of the fan housing; wherein the enclosure wall defines a side surface of the enclosure.

         14 . The HVAC system of claim 13 , wherein the electronic components comprise a first electronic component and a second electronic component.

         15 . The HVAC system of claim 14 , wherein the first electronic component and the second electronic component are coupled to the enclosure wall.

         16 . The HVAC system of claim 13 , wherein the enclosure wall prevents access to the fan.

         17 . The HVAC system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 one of a first door or a first panel configured to conceal the enclosure.

         18 . The HVAC system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 an electric heating coil disposed within the fan housing and proximate the fan, the electric heating coil configured to generate heat.

         19 . The HVAC system of claim 18 , wherein the electric heating coil is a V-shaped evaporator coil, and the fan housing is disposed vertically above the V-shaped evaporator coil.

         20 . The HVAC system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 a fan safety switch configured to actuate the fan.
