Roof Panel Repair Device

Abstract

A roof panel repair device for covering seams between roof panels includes a panel that is appliable to a seam between roof panels on a roof. The top layer is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit precipitation from passing through the seam between the roof panels. The bottom layer is comprised of an adhesive material to adhere to the roof panels for retaining the panel over the seam. A protective sheet is removably applied to the bottom layer of the panel such that the protective sheet inhibits the bottom layer from adhering.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A roof panel repair device for sealing seams between roof panels or for repairing damage to the roof panels, said device comprising:
 a panel being appliable to a seam between roof panels on a roof, said top layer being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said top layer is configured to inhibit precipitation from passing through said seam between said roof panels, said bottom layer being comprised of an adhesive material thereby facilitating said bottom layer to adhere to said roof panels for retaining said panel over said seam; and   a protective sheet being removably applied to said bottom layer of said panel such that said protective sheet inhibits said bottom layer from adhering.   
     
     
         2 . The device according to  claim 1 , wherein said panel has a length being greater than a width of said panel thereby facilitating said panel to extend along a full length of said seam while covering a minimum area of said pair of roof panels. 
     
     
         3 . The device according to  claim 1 , wherein said protective sheet is positioned on a bottom surface of said bottom layer having said protective sheet completely covering said bottom surface of said bottom layer. 
     
     
         4 . A roof panel repair device for sealing seams between roof panels or for repairing damage to the roof panels, said device comprising:
 a panel being appliable to a seam between roof panels on a roof, said top layer being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said top layer is configured to inhibit precipitation from passing through said seam between said roof panels, said bottom layer being comprised of an adhesive material thereby facilitating said bottom layer to adhere to said roof panels for retaining said panel over said seam, said panel having a length being greater than a width of said panel thereby facilitating said panel to extend along a full length of said seam while covering a minimum area of said pair of roof panels; and   a protective sheet being removably applied to said bottom layer of said panel such that said protective sheet inhibits said bottom layer from adhering, said protective sheet being positioned on a bottom surface of said bottom layer having said protective sheet completely covering said bottom surface of said bottom layer.   
     
     
         5 . A method of repairing penetrations in roof roof panels, the steps of the method comprising:
 accessing a roof of a building, said roof of said building comprising a plurality of roof panels, respective pairs of said roof panels abutting each other at a seam between said respective pair of roof panels;   wherein the steps of the method includes a plurality of first steps for covering said seam between said respective pair of roof panels, said plurality of first steps comprising:
 cutting a panel to a length which facilitates said panel to match the length of said seam between said pair of roof panels on said roof; 
 removing a protective sheet from a bottom layer of said panel, said bottom layer comprising an adhesive material; and 
 placing said bottom layer of said panel on top of said pair of roof panels such that said panel covers the length of said seam, said bottom layer of said panel being comprised of an adhesive material thereby facilitating said bottom layer to adhesive engage said pair of roof panels for retaining said panel over said seam, a top layer of said panel being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said top layer is configured to inhibit precipitation from passing through said seam; and 
   wherein the steps of the method includes a plurality of second steps for repairing a hole in a respective one of said plurality of roof panels, said plurality of second steps comprising:
 cutting said panel to a length which facilitates said panel to completely cover a hole in a respective one of said plurality of roof panels; 
 removing said protective sheet from said bottom layer of said panel; and 
 placing said bottom layer of said panel on top of said respective flashing panel such that said panel covers said hole having said bottom layer adhesively engaging said respective flashing panel for retaining said panel over said hole.
