Spool and bobbin storage and labeling disc

Abstract

A bobbin insert includes a head, a stem extending from the head, and an attachment member connected to the stem. A system for storing or labeling a bobbin includes a bobbin having a first opening on a first end of the bobbin and a second opening on a second end of the bobbin opposite the first end. The bobbin further includes a through-hole extending from the first opening to the second opening. The system further includes an insert having a head, a stem extending from the head, and an attachment member connected to the stem. The stem is configured to be inserted into the through-hole through the first opening, and at least a portion of the attachment member is configured to extend out of the second opening. A method for storing or labeling a bobbin includes inserting a stem of an insert into a through-hole of the bobbin.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A bobbin insert, comprising:
 a head;   a stem extending from the head; and   an attachment member connected to the stem.   
     
     
         2 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head further comprises an informational label. 
     
     
         3 . The bobbin insert of  claim 2 , wherein the head further comprises:
 a first face; and   a second face;   wherein the stem extends from the first face, and wherein the second face includes the informational label.   
     
     
         4 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the stem further comprises:
 a first end; and   a second end;   wherein the first end couples to the head, wherein the second end includes a cavity, and wherein the attachment member is located at least partially in the cavity.   
     
     
         5 . The bobbin insert of  claim 4 , wherein the cavity further comprises an opening, the opening bound by the second end. 
     
     
         6 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the stem and the head are integral. 
     
     
         7 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the attachment member is coupled to the stem, and wherein the attachment member further comprises:
 one of a magnet, an adhesive strip, and a touch fastener.   
     
     
         8 . The bobbin insert of  claim 7 , wherein the attachment member is removably coupled to the stem. 
     
     
         9 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head further comprises a textured surface configured to promote grasping of the head. 
     
     
         10 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head further comprises:
 a first face;   a second face; and   an edge extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the edge is beveled or rounded.   
     
     
         11 . The bobbin insert of  claim 3 , wherein the informational label is detachable from the second face of the head. 
     
     
         12 . The bobbin insert of  claim 11 , wherein the informational label is attached to the second face of the head by an attachment means, the attachment means comprising:
 one of a precision-fit slot, a magnet, and a repositionable adhesive.   
     
     
         13 . The bobbin insert of  claim 11 , wherein the informational label is made of a material comprising:
 one of a laminated paper, a plastic, and a metal.   
     
     
         14 . The bobbin insert of  claim 3 , wherein the informational label and the second face are integral. 
     
     
         15 . The bobbin insert of  claim 14 , wherein the informational label comprises a carving, etching or engraving on the second face of the head. 
     
     
         16 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the stem extends perpendicularly from the head. 
     
     
         17 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the stem extends obliquely from the head. 
     
     
         18 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head and the stem are made from a material comprising:
 one of a polylactic acid, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, acrylonitrile styrene acrylate, polyethylene terephthalate glycol, nylon, polycarbonate, polypropylene, and polyether ether ketone.   
     
     
         19 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head further comprises at least one substantially flat face, the at least one substantially flat face having a polygonal shape. 
     
     
         20 . The bobbin insert of  claim 1 , wherein the head further comprises at least one substantially flat face, the at least one substantially flat face having a rounded shape.
