Impact curtain for sports

Abstract

An impact curtain for sports applications is disclosed, designed to safely absorb and contain the force of thrown or propelled sporting implements like hammers and javelins. The design includes multiple modular panels, each with a 300 mm wide by 3.5 mm thick industrial sling webbing, a 100 mm wide industrial sling webbing sewn to the 300 mm webbing, and a 100 mm wide hook and loop fastener fabric along at least one edge. Custom-sized D rings are embedded in hanging loops formed by sewing a 100 mm wide webbing strip to at least one panel edge. Specialized fasteners connect adjacent panels, and a frame supports a lower trough at the curtain's bottom. The modular panels are adjustable, removable, and connectable, creating a continuous, heavy, and expandable curtain for enhanced safety in various sports environments.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An impact curtain for sports, comprising:
 a plurality of modular panels, each modular panel comprising:   a 300 mm wide by 3.5 mm thick industrial sling webbing; a 100 mm wide industrial sling webbing configured to be sewn to the 300 mm webbing to form a panel; and a 100 mm wide hook and loop fastener fabric secured along at least one edge of the panel;   D rings embedded in hanging loops formed by sewing a 100 mm wide webbing strip to at least one panel edge; and   a frame configured to support a lower trough formed at a bottom region of the impact curtain,   wherein the impact curtain is configured to absorb impacts from sporting implements including hammers and javelins, and wherein the modular panels are adjustable, removable and connectable to form a continuous, heavy, and expandable curtain for sports applications.   
     
     
         2 . The impact curtain of  claim 1 , wherein the modular panels are designed with varying dimensions to accommodate different sports or environments. 
     
     
         3 . The impact curtain of  claim 2 , wherein the 300 mm wide by 3.5 mm thick industrial sling webbing is made from high-strength nylon for enhanced durability. 
     
     
         4 . The impact curtain of  claim 3 , wherein the 100 mm wide industrial sling webbing includes integrated reflective strips for visibility in low-light conditions. 
     
     
         5 . The impact curtain of  claim 4 , wherein the 100 mm wide hook and loop fastener fabric is designed to withstand a specific number of attachment cycles without losing effectiveness. 
     
     
         6 . The impact curtain of  claim 5 , wherein the D rings are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel. 
     
     
         7 . The impact curtain of  claim 6 , wherein the frame is collapsible for easy transport and storage. 
     
     
         8 . A method for manufacturing and assembling an impact curtain for sports, comprising:
 cutting industrial sling webbing and hook and loop fastener fabric to predetermined dimensions;   sewing a 300 mm wide by 3.5 mm thick industrial sling webbing together with a 100 mm wide industrial sling webbing to form a modular panel;   sewing a 100 mm wide hook and loop fastener fabric along at least one edge of the modular panel to facilitate inter-panel connections;   forming hanging loops along at least one panel edge by sewing a 100 mm wide webbing strip with embedded D rings;   connecting a plurality of modular panels using specialized fasteners to form a continuous, heavy, and expandable curtain; and   constructing a frame to support a lower trough at a bottom region of the curtain, whereby the impact curtain is configured to absorb impacts from sporting implements including hammers and javelins.   
     
     
         9 . A system for absorbing impacts in sports applications, comprising:
 a plurality of modular panels, each panel including:
 a first webbing material, 
 a second webbing material attached to the first webbing material, and 
 a fastener fabric along at least one edge of the panel; 
 hanging loops positioned along at least one edge of the panel, each loop incorporating a D ring; 
 fasteners for connecting adjacent panels; and 
 a frame configured to support the panels, 
 wherein the system is configured to form a continuous and expandable barrier for absorbing impacts from sporting implements.
