Abstract
A rack for an appliance such as a dish washing appliance. Deployment of the rack may allow the user to become aware of the presence of the rack within the dish washing appliance. At least one rack is positionable from a stowed position to at least one deployed position. The rack may be deployed or actuated with a door and/or a second rack. The door and/or second rack may carry, force, or actuate the rack to a deployed position. The deployed position of the rack may not be a fully deployed position of the rack.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of deploying a dishwasher rack within a dish washing appliance comprising the steps of:
providing a door positionable between a closed position and an open position relative to a dishwasher tub; providing a dishwasher rack, wherein the rack includes a front side and a top edge and a bottom edge positioned on the front side of the rack; magnetically engaging the door to the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack; and deploying the dishwasher rack from a stowed position to a deployed position when positioning the door from the closed position to the open position.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein when the dishwasher rack is in the deployed position, a portion of the dishwasher rack is positioned through a front opening of the dishwasher tub away from the dishwasher tub.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of magnetically disengaging the door from the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack when in the deployed position.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of deploying the dishwasher rack further from the stowed position when the dishwasher rack is magnetically disengaged from the door or stowing the dishwasher rack towards the stowed position when the dishwasher rack is magnetically disengaged from the door.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of magnetically engaging includes a magnet engaging a magnetic member, wherein the magnetic member includes a metal member.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of magnetically engaging occurs when the door is in at least the closed position and the dishwasher rack is at least in the stowed position.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of magnetically engaging the door to the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack occurs after engaging the bottom edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack to the door when closing the door from the open position to the closed position.
8 . A method of deploying a dishwasher rack within a dish washing appliance comprising the steps of:
providing a door positionable between a closed position and an open position relative to a dishwasher tub; providing a dishwasher rack, wherein the dishwasher rack includes a front side and a top edge and a bottom edge positioned on the front side of the dishwasher rack; magnetically engaging the door to the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack; and magnetically actuating the dishwasher rack away from a stowed position to at least one deployed position when positioning the door from the closed position to the open position.
9 . The method of claim 8 further comprising magnetically engaging the door to the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack when closing the door from the open position to the closed position.
10 . The method of claim 9 wherein the step of magnetically engaging the door to the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack occurs after engaging the bottom edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack to the door when closing the door from the open position to the closed position.
11 . The method of claim 8 further comprising the step of magnetically disengaging the door from the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack when in the at least one deployed position.
12 . The method of claim 8 further comprising pivoting the door between the closed position and the open position.
13 . The method of claim 8 wherein the door includes at least one of one or more magnetic members and/or one or more magnets, and wherein the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack includes the other of the at least one of the one or more magnetic members and/or the one or more magnets.
14 . The method of claim 13 wherein the door includes the one or more magnetic members and the dishwasher rack includes the one or more magnets.
15 . The method of claim 13 wherein the door includes the one or more magnets and the dishwasher rack includes the one or more magnetic members.
16 . A method of deploying a dishwasher rack within a dish washing appliance comprising the steps of:
providing a door positionable between a closed position and an open position relative to a dishwasher tub, wherein the door includes at least one of one or more magnetic members and/or one or more magnets; providing a dishwasher rack, wherein the dishwasher rack includes a front side and a top edge and a bottom edge positioned on the front side of the dishwasher rack, and wherein the top edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack includes the other of the at least one of the one or more magnetic members and/or the one or more magnets, and wherein the dishwasher rack is positionable between a stowed position in the dishwasher tub and one or more deployed positions different from the stowed position, wherein the one or more deployed positions include a first deployed position and a second deployed position that is further from the stowed position than the first deployed position; magnetically engaging the one or more magnetic members with the one or more magnets; and deploying the dishwasher rack from the stowed position to the first deployed position when the one or more magnetic members are magnetically engaged to the one or more magnets by positioning the door from the closed position towards the open position.
17 . The method of claim 16 further comprising magnetically disengaging the one or more magnetic members from the one or more magnets after reaching the first deployed position towards the second deployed position.
18 . The method of claim 16 wherein the step of magnetically engaging the one or more magnetic members with the one or more magnets occurs after engaging the bottom edge of the front side of the dishwasher rack to the door when closing the door from the open position to the closed position.
19 . The method of claim 16 further comprising sliding the dishwasher rack between the stowed position in the dishwasher tub and the one or more deployed positions different from the stowed position.
20 . The method of claim 16 wherein the one or more magnetic members magnetically engage the one or more magnets adjacent one or both of opposing sides of the dishwasher rack.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
