Abstract

An aerosol provision device includes a body and a chamber for receiving at least a portion of an article including aerosol generating material. The body has an opening communicating with the chamber. An actuating member is arranged to rotate about the body, and a cover member is arranged to pivot about the body. Rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to pivot between an open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a closed position in which the opening is fully covered.

1 . An aerosol provision device comprising:
 a body;   a chamber for receiving at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material;   the body having an opening communicating with the chamber;   an actuating member arranged to rotate about the body; and   a cover member arranged to pivot about the body;   wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to pivot between an open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a closed position in which the opening is fully covered.   
     
     
         2 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein the cover member is a single cover member. 
     
     
         3 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein a surface area of the cover member is greater than a surface area of the opening. 
     
     
         4 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein the cover member is between the actuating member and the body. 
     
     
         5 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein the actuating member comprises an aperture through which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass, and the cover member is received between the aperture and the opening. 
     
     
         6 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein the cover member is arranged to fully overlap the aperture in the closed position. 
     
     
         7 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , comprising a cam arrangement arranged to cause the cover member to pivot upon rotation of the actuating member. 
     
     
         8 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 7 , wherein the cam arrangement comprises a guide element and an elongate guide surface arranged to guide the guide element. 
     
     
         9 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 1 , wherein the actuating member is configured to be manually rotated. 
     
     
         10 . An aerosol provision device comprising:
 a body;   a chamber for receiving at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material;   the body having an opening communicating with the chamber;   an actuating member arranged to rotate about the body; and   a single cover member arranged to selectively fully overlap the opening, the single cover member being arranged to pivot on the body upon actuation of the actuating member between a fully overlapped position and an open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening.   
     
     
         11 . An aerosol provision device comprising:
 a body;   a chamber in the body arranged to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material;   the body defining an opening communicating with the chamber;   a cover member arranged to move between a relatively open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a relatively closed position in which the at least a portion of an article is prevented from being able to pass through the opening;   an actuating member configured to rotate on the body to actuate the cover member;   wherein the actuating member comprises a gap through which at least part of the cover member is arranged to be received.   
     
     
         12 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to move between the relatively open position and the relatively closed position. 
     
     
         13 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 12 , wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to translate between the relatively open position and the relatively closed position, optionally wherein the translation is a linear translation. 
     
     
         14 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to pivot between the relatively open position and the relatively closed position. 
     
     
         15 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein at least a portion of the cover member protrudes from the actuating member when in the relatively open position and the cover member is arranged to be retracted from the gap in the relatively closed position. 
     
     
         16 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein the actuating member comprises a peripheral wall, the gap being in the peripheral wall. 
     
     
         17 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein the gap is an elongate gap extending in a circumferential direction. 
     
     
         18 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein the body comprises a housing configured to at least partially receive the cover member in the relatively open position. 
     
     
         19 . The aerosol provision device of  claim 11 , wherein the slot is hidden by the body of the device throughout the range of movement of the actuating member. 
     
     
         20 . An aerosol provision system comprising the aerosol provision device of  claim 1 ; and an article comprising aerosol-generating material.
