Abstract

An aerosol-generating system is provided, including: an aerosol-generating device for an aerosol-generating article, the device including: a heating chamber configured to receive the article, and a heater assembly arranged along a portion of the heating chamber defining a heating zone; and the article to be received in the heating chamber, the article including: a first aerosol-generating segment including a first aerosol-generating substrate, and a second aerosol-generating segment including a second aerosol-generating substrate, the first substrate including between 5 and 30% by weight of glycerol on a dry weight basis, the system being configured such that when the article is fully received within the heating chamber: at least 90 percent of a length of the second segment is within the heating zone, the first segment being located upstream of the second segment, and a length of the first segment being less than the length of the second segment.

         13 . An aerosol-generating system, comprising:
an aerosol-generating device for an aerosol-generating article, the aerosol-generating device comprising:
a heating chamber configured to receive an aerosol-generating article, and
a heater assembly arranged along a portion of the heating chamber defining a heating zone; and
an aerosol-generating article configured to be received in the heating chamber of the aerosol-generating device, the aerosol-generating article comprising:
a first aerosol-generating segment comprising a first aerosol-generating substrate, and a second aerosol-generating segment comprising a second aerosol-generating substrate, the first aerosol-generating substrate comprising between 5 percent and 30 percent by weight of glycerol on a dry weight basis,
the aerosol-generating system being configured such that when the aerosol-generating article is fully received within the heating chamber of the aerosol-generating device:
at least 90 percent of a length of the second aerosol-generating segment is within the heating zone,
wherein the first aerosol-generating segment is located upstream of the second aerosol-generating segment, and
wherein a length of the first aerosol-generating segment is less than the length of the second aerosol-generating segment.

14 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the first aerosol-generating segment has an upstream end, the upstream end of the first aerosol-generating segment defining the upstream end of the aerosol-generating article.

15 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the upstream end of the second aerosol-generating segment is in direct contact with the downstream end of the first aerosol-generating segment.

16 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the first aerosol-generating segment has a length of at least 2 millimetres.

17 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the first aerosol-generating segment has a length of no more than 8 millimetres.

18 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the second aerosol-generating segment has a length of at least 8 millimetres.

19 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the second aerosol-generating segment has a length of no more than 16 millimetres.

20 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the heater assembly comprises at least one of a resistive heating element and an inductive heating assembly.

21 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the first aerosol-generating substrate has a first density and the second aerosol-generating substrate has a second density, the second density being greater than the first density.

22 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 , wherein the first aerosol-generating substrate and the second aerosol-generating substrate comprise at least one aerosol former, an aerosol former content of the second aerosol-generating substrate being greater than an aerosol former content of the first aerosol-generating substrate.

         23 . The aerosol-generating system according to claim 13 ,
wherein the second aerosol-generating substrate further comprises at least one aerosol former, and wherein the aerosol former content of the second aerosol-generating substrate is at least 40 percent by weight on a dry weight basis.
