Abstract

A vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container such as but not limited to an intermediate bulk container wherein the present invention provides venting of the container and further inhibits coagulation of product so as to avoid clogging of vents. The invention includes a body that has an upper portion integrally formed with a lower portion wherein the lower portion is perpendicular to the upper portion. The lower portion includes a wall that is cylindrical in shape having a bottom member distal to the upper portion. The bottom member includes a lower aperture and void formed therein. An annular passage is formed in the wall member and is fluidly coupled to the void and lower aperture. Four vent apertures are fluidly coupled to the annular passage and are located at the upper end of the lower portion adjacent the lower surface of the upper portion.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof and further inhibit clogging of the vented container cap from coagulation wherein the vented container cap comprises:
a body, said body having an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion and said lower portion being integrally formed, said lower portion having an upper end and a lower end, said upper portion being proximate said upper end of said lower portion, said upper portion being perpendicular to said lower portion, said upper portion having an upper surface and a lower surface, said upper portion having a perimeter edge defining a shape thereof, said upper portion having a width greater than a width of said lower portion, said lower portion being cylindrical in shape extending outward from said lower surface of said upper portion, said lower portion having a wall, said wall having a bottom member integrally formed therewith, said bottom member being distal to said upper portion, said wall having an exterior surface, said bottom member having a lower aperture formed therein, wherein said lower aperture further extends onto said wall proximate said lower end of said wall, said lower aperture being in fluid communication with a void present in said lower portion, said lower portion further having an annular passage, said annular passage being within said wall of said lower portion, said annular passage extending completely around said wall, said annular passage being in fluid communication with said void; and a plurality of vent apertures, said plurality of vent apertures being formed through said wall of said lower portion, said plurality of vent apertures being proximate said upper end of said lower portion, said plurality of vent apertures being in fluid communication with said annular passage, said plurality of vent apertures operable to provide venting of the container.

2 . The vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof as recited in claim 1 , wherein said exterior surface of said wall further includes thread members formed thereon.

3 . The vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof as recited in claim 2 , wherein said upper portion of said body is hexagonal in shape.

4 . The vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof as recited in claim 3 , wherein said vent apertures are located around said lower portion having a separation of ninety degrees.

5 . The vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof as recited in claim 4 , wherein said vent apertures are located proximate said lower surface of said upper portion at said upper end of said wall of said lower portion.

6 . The vented container cap configured to be operably coupled to a container and provide venting thereof as recited in claim 5 , wherein said body is manufactured from plastic.
