Grille attachment system for a ventilation system

Abstract

A ventilation system having a housing defining an internal region and the housing configured to be positioned adjacent to a room of a building structure, a blower in the internal region and configured to draw air out of the room of the building structure, and a grille configured to at least partially block view of the housing and the blower. The grille has a trim cover configured to connect to at least one of the main housing, the blower and the room. The trim cover has at least one side element configured to define an aperture and a hanger connected to the at least one side element. The hanger has a base. A grille cover is configured to engage the base.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A ventilation system comprising:
 a housing defining an internal region and the housing configured to be positioned adjacent to a room of a building structure,   a blower in the internal region and configured to draw air out of the room of the building structure, and   a grille configured to at least partially block view of the housing and the blower, the grille comprising:
 a trim cover configured to connect to at least one of the main housing, the blower and the room, the trim cover comprising:
 at least one side element configured to define an aperture, 
 a hanger connected to the at least one side element, the hanger comprising a base; and 
 
 a grille cover configured to engage the base. 
   
     
     
         2 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the hanger further comprises a guide plate. 
     
     
         3 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the trim cover further comprises a second hanger connected to the at least one side element. 
     
     
         4 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the grille cover is configured to be biased by gravity to engage the base. 
     
     
         5 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the grille cover comprises a clip having an engagement face configured to engage the base. 
     
     
         6 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , the grille cover further comprising an arm connecting the hanger to the at least one side element and extending the hanger into the aperture. 
     
     
         7 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the at least one side element comprises four straight side elements connected to form a rectangle. 
     
     
         8 . A grille for connection to a ventilation system, the grille comprising:
 a trim cover comprising:
 at least one side element configured to define an aperture, 
 a hanger connected to the at least one side element, the hanger comprising a base; and 
   a grille cover configured to engage the base.   
     
     
         9 . The grille of  claim 8 , wherein the hanger further comprises a guide plate. 
     
     
         10 . The grille of  claim 8 , wherein the trim cover further comprises a second hanger connected to the at least one side element. 
     
     
         11 . The grille of  claim 8 , wherein the grille cover is configured to be biased by gravity to engage the base. 
     
     
         12 . The grille of  claim 8 , wherein the grille cover comprises a clip having an engagement face configured to engage the base. 
     
     
         13 . The grille of  claim 8 , the grille cover further comprising an arm connecting the hanger to the at least one side element and extending the hanger into the aperture. 
     
     
         14 . The grille of  claim 8 , wherein the at least one side element comprises four straight side elements connected to form a rectangle. 
     
     
         15 . A method for installing a grille of a ventilation system having a blower and a housing configured to be positioned adjacent to a room of a building structure, the method comprising the steps of:
 providing a trim cover having at least one side element, a hanger connected to the at least one side element, wherein the hanger defines a base;   providing a grille cover; and   engaging the grille cover to the base.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising the step of connecting the trim cover to at least one of the housing, the blower and the room. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising the step of allowing the grille cover to be biased by gravity toward the base. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the grille cover comprises a clip having an engagement face and the step of engaging the grille cover to the base comprises engaging the engagement face to the base. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , further comprising the step of aligning the clip with the base. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the base defines a length, the method further comprising the step of moving the grille cover in the direction of the length.
