Abstract

A wall exhaust vent (e.g., for a dryer or other HVAC system) can include a housing defining a vent opening, and one or more bumpers on or at least partially within the housing and configured contact a door of the wall exhaust vent in a closed position. The one or more bumpers can include a bumper body, and a magnet disposed at least partially within the bumper body that is configured to magnetically interact with the door of the wall exhaust vent to bias the door to the closed position.

         21 . A wall exhaust vent, comprising:
 a housing defining a vent opening, the housing configured to mount to a wall, the housing including:
 a mounting portion configured to abut a wall such that the vent opening fits around a wall exhaust opening; and 
 a plurality of mounting holes defined through the mounting portion and located around the vent opening; 
   a door rotatably attached to the housing and configured to at least partially cover the vent opening in a closed position; and   a drip shield extending obliquely from the mounting portion configured to cover the door and the vent opening.   
     
     
         22 . The vent of  claim 21 , wherein the housing comprises a first housing portion and a second housing portion, the first and second housing portions separable from one another, wherein the first housing potion defines the mounting portion, and wherein the second housing portion is configured to mount to the first housing portion. 
     
     
         23 . The vent of  claim 22 , wherein the door is rotatably attached to the second housing portion. 
     
     
         24 . The vent of  claim 22 , wherein the drip shield extends obliquely from the first housing portion and terminates above the vent opening. 
     
     
         25 . The vent of  claim 24 , wherein the drip shield is configured to cover the second housing portion of the wall exhaust vent and to at least partially retain the second housing portion to the first housing portion with the first second housing portion without fasteners. 
     
     
         26 . The vent of  claim 24 , further comprising a mount tab extending from the mounting portion at an opposite end of the mounting portion from the drip shield, the mounting tab comprising one or more mount holes defined therethrough, wherein the mount tab is configured to attach to the second housing portion of the wall exhaust vent to retain the second housing portion to the mounting pointing portion. 
     
     
         27 . The vent of  claim 21 , further comprising, one or more bumpers on or at least partially within the housing and configured contact the door of the wall exhaust vent in the closed position, the one or more bumpers comprising:
 a bumper body; and   a magnet disposed at least partially within the bumper body that is configured to magnetically interact with the door of the wall exhaust vent to bias the door to the closed position.   
     
     
         28 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the bumper body is made of an elastic material. 
     
     
         29 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the magnet is a permanent magnet, and wherein the door includes a ferromagnetic material. 
     
     
         30 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the magnet is a rare earth magnet. 
     
     
         31 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the bumper body includes a flanged head portion and a hollow neck portion configured to at least partially retain the magnet. 
     
     
         32 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the one or more bumpers comprises two bumpers, each bumper positioned to be proximate to a lower corner of the door in the closed position. 
     
     
         33 . The vent of  claim 27 , wherein the one or more bumpers are disposed partially within a door interface structure which is at least partially within a recess of the housing. 
     
     
         34 . The vent of  claim 33 , wherein the door interface structure is slanted relative to a plane of the housing such that the door is additionally biased to contact the one or more bumpers and/or the door interface structure by a weight of the door. 
     
     
         35 . The vent of  claim 21 , wherein the plurality of mounting holes defined through the mounting portion includes:
 a plurality of inner mounting holes defined through the mounting portion around the vent opening; and   a plurality of outer mounting holes defined through the mounting portion and located further away from the vent opening than the inner mounting holes.   
     
     
         36 . The vent of  claim 35 , wherein the inner mounting holes include four inner mounting holes, wherein the outer mounting holes include four outer mounting holes, wherein the inner mounting holes form corners of a first square, and the outer mounting holes form corners of a second square that is larger than the first square. 
     
     
         37 . The vent of  claim 21 , further comprising a collar extending from the vent opening and configured to connect to exhaust ducting. 
     
     
         38 . A wall exhaust vent kit, comprising:
 a housing configured to mount to a wall, comprising:
 a first housing portion comprising a vent opening configured to interface with exhaust ducting and a plurality of mounting holes defined therethrough and located around the vent opening; 
 a second housing portion including a second vent at least partially aligned with the first vent opening; and 
 a drip shield extending from the housing and integral with the housing; and 
   a door rotatably attached to or configured to be rotatably attached to the second housing portion to at least partially cover the second vent opening.   
     
     
         39 . The kit of  claim 38 , wherein the first housing portion and the second housing portion are separable from one another, and wherein the drip shield extends obliquely from the first housing portion. 
     
     
         40 . The kit of  claim 38 , wherein the first housing portion includes a plurality of mounting apertures for mounting the housing to a wall, wherein the plurality of mounting apertures includes:
 a plurality of inner mounting holes defined through the first housing portion and located around the vent opening; and   a plurality of outer mounting holes defined through the first housing portion and located further away from the vent opening than the inner mounting holes.
