Abstract

A network interface device may include: a frame having: a first frame end, a second frame end, a top frame surface, a bottom frame surface, a first lateral frame surface and a second lateral frame surface, wherein the top frame surface includes a longitudinal frame indent extending along a portion of the top frame surface and between the first lateral frame surface and the second lateral frame surface; and heat dissipating members protruding from the longitudinal frame indent of the top frame surface.

1 . A network interface device comprising:
 a frame comprising:
 a top frame surface and a bottom frame surface, and 
 a first lateral frame surface and a second lateral frame surface; and 
   a plurality of longitudinal fins extending longitudinally on the top frame surface between a first frame end and a second frame end, the longitudinal fins being spaced with respect to each other by a fin pitch, the fin pitch ranging between 4% and 14% of a distance between the first lateral frame surface and the second lateral frame surface.   
     
     
         2 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of longitudinal fins comprises nine or more longitudinal fins. 
     
     
         3 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein the top frame surface comprises a longitudinal indent extending longitudinally along a portion of the top frame surface, and wherein the longitudinal fins protrude from the longitudinal indent of the top frame surface. 
     
     
         4 . The network interface device of  claim 3 , wherein the longitudinal fins extend above a plane of the top frame surface. 
     
     
         5 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal fins are perpendicular to the top frame surface. 
     
     
         6 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , further comprising a zipper fins assembly, wherein the zipper fins assembly encloses the longitudinal fins. 
     
     
         7 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal fins and at least the top frame surface are formed of one piece. 
     
     
         8 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal fins are welded or soldered to the top frame surface. 
     
     
         9 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , further comprising a data communication system connector positioned at one end of the frame to connect the device to a data communication system. 
     
     
         10 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , further comprising a cable connector positioned at one end of the frame to connect a cable to the device. 
     
     
         11 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , further comprising electronic components positioned within a hollow interior of the frame. 
     
     
         12 . The network interface device of  claim 1 , wherein each of the longitudinal fins contacts one of conductive members of a receptacle cage of a data communication system when the device is inserted into the receptacle cage.
