Modular mattress system and method

Abstract

As per an embodiment of the disclosure, a minimum of one module is modularized in one of the following mattress layer: comfort, contour, or support. This modularization entails at least one module per side of the mattress. In particular configurations, all modules within a respective layer may have an identical size in length, width, and height. In other configurations, two modules within a respective layer may be larger or smaller than the other modules. For example, in the contour layer, the hip module on both the left and right sides of the mattress may be larger than the head and foot modules.

1 . A mattress system comprising:
 a comfort layer, a contour layer, and a support layer, wherein at least one of the comfort layers, the contour layer, or the support layer is modularized such that at least two modules exist in the modularized layer.   
     
     
         2 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein the modularized layer includes at least three modules. 
     
     
         3 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein the modularized layer includes at least four modules. 
     
     
         4 . The mattress system in  claim 3 , wherein the modularized layer includes at least two modules per side. 
     
     
         5 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the at least two modules has a different VCM than another of the at least two modules. 
     
     
         6 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the at least two modules has a different material than another of the at least two modules. 
     
     
         7 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the at least two modules has a different material and VCM than another of the at least two modules. 
     
     
         8 . The mattress system in  claim 1 , wherein at least two of the comfort layers, the contour layer, or the support layer are modularized such that at least two modules exist in each respective modularized layer. 
     
     
         9 . The mattress system in  claim 8 , wherein at least one of the modules in one of the modularized layers has a different VCM than another module in a different modularized layer. 
     
     
         10 . The mattress system in  claim 8 , wherein at least one of the modules in one of the modularized layers has a different material than another module in a different modularized layer. 
     
     
         11 . The mattress system in  claim 8 , wherein at least one of the modules in one of the modularized layers has a different material and VCM than another module in a different modularized layer.
