Support device for providing a firm connection of a post to a support structure
Abstract
The support device featuring pre-manufactured notches and dedicated sections for simple and stable installation of posts on outdoor decks and stairs, thereby providing enhanced stability and longevity of the posts. The support device comprises a planar base, a sleeve member, and a bottom support. The support device is designed to be weather-resistant, so there is minimal risk of rust or rot occurring to the post. The support device eliminates the need for manual notching with tools like saws and chisels, thereby simplifying the installation process for lumber yards, builders, and contractors. This could save time and labor costs. The support device frees up valuable space compared to traditional flat surface installations by mounting on the edge of steps or decks. This could be a crucial benefit for narrow stairs or outdoor decks.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedThe claimed invention is:
1 . A support device for providing a firm connection of a post to a support structure, comprising:
a planar base having a first end and a second end; a sleeve member defining a receiving portion vertically extended from an upper surface of said planar base, wherein said sleeve member is configured to receive a bottom portion of said post in said receiving portion, thereby supporting said post in a position, wherein said sleeve member having a plurality of side walls in which at least two opposite side walls include a plurality of holes for receiving one or more fasteners, which are used to secure said bottom portion of said post in said sleeve member; and a bottom support downwardly extended from a lower surface of said planar base, wherein said bottom support is configured to secure said support device to said support structure through the fasteners, whereby said support device is adapted to provide the firm connection of the post to the support structure.
2 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein said planar base having a plurality of openings at the first end for receiving the fasteners to securely affix said support device to the support structure.
3 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein said bottom support comprises one or more apertures for receiving the fasteners.
4 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of side walls includes a first side wall, a second side wall, a third side wall, and a fourth side wall.
5 . The support device of claim 4 , wherein said first side wall, said second side wall, and said fourth side wall are extended downwardly from said planar base.
6 . The support device of claim 4 , wherein said second side wall and said fourth side wall having an L-shaped structure.
7 . The support device of claim 4 , wherein said first side wall, said second side wall, and said fourth side wall, and said bracket member are steadfastly connected together using a connecting bracket.
8 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein said notched portion of said bottom support is formed by connecting a bracket member with said second side wall and said fourth side wall.
9 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein said planar base is adapted to be affixed to a top portion of said support structure and said notched portion of said bottom support is adapted to be affixed to a side portion of said support structure.
10 . The support device of claim 1 , wherein the planar base and the bottom support collaboratively form an L-shaped configuration, serving as a notched feature on the support structure to enhance stability of the post, wherein said support structure is at least one of a stair and an outdoor deck.
11 . A support device for providing a firm connection of a post to a support structure, comprising:
a planar base having a first end and a second end; a sleeve member defining a receiving portion vertically extended from an upper surface of said planar base, wherein said sleeve member is configured to receive a bottom portion of said post in said receiving portion, thereby supporting said post in a position,
wherein said sleeve member having a first side wall, a second side wall, a third side wall, and a fourth side wall in which said second side wall and said fourth side wall comprises a plurality of holes for receiving one or more fasteners, which are used to secure said bottom portion of said post in said sleeve member; and
a bottom support downwardly extended from a lower surface of said planar base, wherein said bottom support is configured to secure said support device to said support structure through the fasteners, thereby providing the firm connection of the post to the support structure.
12 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said planar base having a plurality of openings at the first end for receiving the fasteners to securely affix said support device to the support structure.
13 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said bottom support comprises one or more apertures for receiving the fasteners.
14 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said first side wall, said second side wall, and said fourth side wall are extended downwardly from said planar base.
15 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said second side wall and said fourth side wall having an L-shaped structure.
16 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said notched portion of said bottom support is formed by connecting a bracket member with said second side wall and said fourth side wall.
17 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said first side wall, said second side wall, and said fourth side wall, and said bracket member are steadfastly connected together using a connecting bracket.
18 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein said planar base is adapted to be affixed to a top portion of said support structure and said notched portion of said bottom support is adapted to be affixed to a side portion of said support structure.
19 . The support device of claim 11 , wherein the planar base and the bottom support collaboratively form an L-shaped configuration, serving as a notched feature on the support structure to enhance stability of the post, wherein said support structure is at least one of a stair and an outdoor deck.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
