Abstract
An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; and a downstream section provided downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the downstream section including: a downstream filter segment being a solid plug, a ventilation zone disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment, and a downstream hollow tubular element disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment, the ventilation zone including a plurality of perforations through a peripheral wall of the downstream hollow tubular element, the downstream hollow tubular element having a thickness of the peripheral wall of between 0.3 millimetre and 0.75 millimetre, and the downstream hollow tubular element extending to a downstream end of the aerosol-generating article. An aerosol-generating system including the aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating device is also provided.

29 . An aerosol-generating article, comprising:
a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; and a downstream section provided downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the downstream section comprising:
a downstream filter segment, wherein the downstream filter segment is a solid plug,
a ventilation zone disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment, and
a downstream hollow tubular element disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment,
wherein the ventilation zone comprises a plurality of perforations through a peripheral wall of the downstream hollow tubular element,
wherein the downstream hollow tubular element has a thickness of the peripheral wall of between 0.3 millimetre and 0.75 millimetre, and
wherein the downstream hollow tubular element extends to a downstream end of the aerosol-generating article.
30 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element abuts a downstream end of the downstream filter segment.
31 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the ventilation zone is disposed at a location along the downstream hollow tubular element.
32 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 31 , wherein the ventilation zone is disposed at a location towards an upstream end of the downstream hollow tubular element.
33 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element comprises a hollow acetate tube.
34 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element has a length of at least 3 millimetres.
35 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element a length of less than or equal to 15 millimetres.
36 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element a length of between 3 millimetres and 15 millimetres.
37 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 29 , wherein the ventilation zone further comprises at least one circumferential row of perforations.
38 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 37 , wherein each circumferential row of perforations comprises between 8 perforations and 30 perforations.
39 . An aerosol-generating article, comprising:
a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; and a downstream section provided downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the downstream section comprising:
a downstream filter segment, wherein the downstream filter segment is a solid plug, and wherein the downstream filter segment has a length of less than or equal to 10 millimetres,
a ventilation zone disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment,
a downstream hollow tubular element disposed at a location downstream of the downstream filter segment, and
an additional downstream hollow tubular element, wherein the additional downstream hollow tubular element abuts a downstream end of the downstream hollow tubular element.
40 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element abuts a downstream end of the downstream filter segment.
41 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the ventilation zone is disposed at a location along the downstream hollow tubular element.
42 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 41 , wherein the ventilation zone is disposed at a location towards an upstream end of the downstream hollow tubular element.
43 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element comprises a hollow acetate tube.
44 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element has a length of at least 3 millimetres.
45 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element a length of less than or equal to 15 millimetres.
46 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the downstream hollow tubular element a length of between 3 millimetres and 15 millimetres.
47 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 39 , wherein the ventilation zone comprises a plurality of perforations through a peripheral wall of the downstream hollow tubular element.
48 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 47 , wherein the ventilation zone further comprises at least one circumferential row of perforations.
49 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 48 , wherein each circumferential row of perforations comprises between 8 perforations and 30 perforations.

wherein the downstream section further comprises a hollow tubular cooling element, wherein the hollow tubular cooling element is disposed at a location upstream of the downstream filter segment, and wherein the hollow tubular cooling element has a length of at least 10 millimetres.
51 . An aerosol-generating system, comprising:
