Portable Table Device

Abstract

A portable table device for holding and charging portable electronic devices while a user is sitting on a sofa includes a tabletop having a top side, a bottom side, and a peripheral side. A pair of handles is coupled to and extends downwardly from the bottom side. The pair of handles is positioned proximate to opposing lateral edges of the peripheral side. The pair of handles are spaced from each other and can receive an arm of a sofa between the pair of handles to position the tabletop over the arm of the sofa. A power cord is coupled to the tabletop. A plurality of charging ports is inset into the peripheral side and is exposed within the peripheral side. The plurality of charging ports is electrically coupled to the power cord. Each of the plurality of charging ports can receive a respective charging cable for an external electronic device.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A portable sofa table assembly comprising:
 a tabletop having a top side, a bottom side, and a peripheral side being coupled to and extending between the top side and the bottom side;   a pair of handles being coupled to and extending downwardly from the bottom side, the pair of handles being positioned proximate to opposing lateral edges of the peripheral side wherein the pair of handles are spaced from each other wherein the pair of handles is configured to receive an arm of a sofa between the pair of handles whereby the tabletop is positionable over the arm of the sofa;   a power cord being coupled to the tabletop;   a plurality of charging ports being inset into the peripheral side and being exposed within the peripheral side, the plurality of charging ports being electrically coupled to the power cord, each of the plurality of charging ports being configured to receive a respective charging cable for an external electronic device.   
     
     
         2 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 1 , the peripheral side further comprising a front edge and a back edge being coupled to and extending between the opposing lateral edges. 
     
     
         3 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the plurality of charging ports are aligned with one another along the front edge. 
     
     
         4 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 1 , each of the pair of handles further comprising a planar panel having a top end being coupled to the bottom side of the tabletop, a bottom end being distal to the top end, and a pair of lateral ends being coupled to and extending between the top end and the bottom end. 
     
     
         5 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 4 , wherein the bottom end of the planar panel has a length exceeding a length of the top end of the planar panel. 
     
     
         6 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 4 , each of the pair of lateral ends further comprising:
 a top section being coupled to and extending downwardly from the top end;   a bottom section being coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom end; and   a medial angled section being coupled to and extending between the top section and the bottom section.   
     
     
         7 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 1 , further comprising a cutout extending through each of the pair of handles, the cutout being positioned distally to the tabletop, the cutout being configured to facilitate a user in gripping each of the pair of handles. 
     
     
         8 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 7 , the cutout further comprising:
 a concave side;   a convex side being positioned between the concave side and the tabletop; and   a pair of tips being coupled to and extending between the concave side and the convex side, the pair of tips being convexly arcuate between the concave side and the convex side;   the concave side being concavely arcuate between the pair of tips; and   the convex side being convexly arcuate between the pair of tips.   
     
     
         9 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 8 , wherein a width between the concave side and the convex side is consistent along a length of the cutout. 
     
     
         10 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 1 , further comprising a depression extending into the top side of the tabletop, the depression having a surface area being smaller than a surface area of the top side wherein the depression is configured to retain the external electronic device on the top side when the tabletop is positioned over the arm of the sofa. 
     
     
         11 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 10 , further comprising a cup holder extending into the depression. 
     
     
         12 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 11 , further comprising a light being electrically coupled to the power cord, the light being positioned within the cup holder wherein the light is configured to illuminate the cup holder when the light is actuated. 
     
     
         13 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 12 , the light further comprising a light emitting diode. 
     
     
         14 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 12 , further comprising a button being coupled to the tabletop, the button being electrically coupled to the power cord, the button being electrically coupled to the light, the button being configured to actuate the light. 
     
     
         15 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 10 , wherein the depression has a rectangular shape. 
     
     
         16 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 15 , wherein the rectangular shape has rounded corners. 
     
     
         17 . The portable sofa table assembly of  claim 1 , further comprising a groove extending into the top side, the groove having an elongated shape wherein the groove is configured to retain an external writing instrument when the tabletop is positioned over the arm of the sofa. 
     
     
         18 . A portable sofa table assembly comprising:
 a tabletop having a top side, a bottom side, and a peripheral side being coupled to and extending between the top side and the bottom side, the peripheral side having a front edge, a back edge, and a pair of opposing lateral edges being coupled to and extending between the front edge and the back edge;   a pair of handles being coupled to and extending downwardly from the bottom side, the pair of handles being positioned proximate to opposing lateral edges of the peripheral side wherein the pair of handles are spaced from each other wherein the pair of handles is configured to receive an arm of a sofa between the pair of handles whereby the tabletop is positionable over the arm of the sofa, each of the pair of handles comprising:
 a planar panel having a top end being coupled to the bottom side of the tabletop, a bottom end being distal to the top end, and a pair of lateral ends being coupled to and extending between the top end and the bottom end, each of the pair of lateral ends further comprising:
 a top section being coupled to and extending vertically downwardly from the top end, the top section being perpendicular to the top end; 
 a bottom section being coupled to and extending vertically upwardly from the bottom end, the bottom section being perpendicular to the bottom end; 
 a medial angled section being coupled to and extending between the top section and the bottom section, the medial angled section being concavely arcuate between the top section and the bottom section; 
 
 the bottom end of the planar panel having a length exceeding a length of the top end of the planar panel; 
   a cutout extending through each of the pair of handles, the cutout being positioned proximate to the bottom end of the planar panel, the cutout being configured to facilitate a user in gripping each of the pair of handles, the cutout further comprising:
 a concave side facing the bottom end of the planar panel; 
 a convex side facing the top end of the planar panel, the convex side being positioned between the tabletop and the concave side; 
 a pair of tips being coupled to and extending between the concave side and the convex side, the pair of tips being convexly arcuate between the concave side and the convex side, each of the pair of tips being equidistant from a respective one of the pair of lateral ends of the planar panel; 
 wherein a width between the concave side and the convex side is consistent along a length of the cutout; 
 the concave side being concavely arcuate between the pair of tips; 
 the convex side being convexly arcuate between the pair of tips; 
   a power cord being coupled to and extending outwardly from the peripheral side, the power cord being positioned on a first one of the pair of opposing lateral edges;   a plurality of charging ports being inset into the peripheral side and being exposed within the peripheral side, the plurality of charging ports being electrically coupled to the power cord, each of the plurality of charging ports being configured to receive a respective charging cable for an external electronic device, the plurality of charging ports being aligned with one another along the front edge;   a depression extending into the top side of the tabletop, the depression having a surface area being smaller than a surface area of the top side wherein the depression is configured to retain the external electronic device on the top side when the tabletop is positioned over the arm of the sofa, the depression having a rectangular shape, the rectangular shape having rounded corners;   a groove extending into the top side, the groove being aligned with the back edge, the groove being positioned between the back edge and the depression, the groove having an elongated shape wherein the groove is configured to retain an external writing instrument when the tabletop is positioned over the arm of the sofa;   a cup holder extending into the depression, the cup holder being positioned proximate to a junction between the front edge and the first one of the pair of opposing lateral edges;   a light being electrically coupled to the power cord, the light being positioned within the cup holder wherein the light is configured to illuminate the cup holder when the light is actuated, the light comprising a light emitting diode; and   a button being coupled to the tabletop, the button being electrically coupled to the power cord, the button being electrically coupled to the light, the button being configured to actuate the light, the button being positioned on the front edge of the peripheral side proximate to the plurality of charging ports.
