Ball head based clamping device

Abstract

A ball head based lever clamping device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A support comprising:
 (a) a plurality of elongate hollow leg members;   (b) each of said elongate hollow leg members at least partially supporting an apex selectively, detachably mountable to equipment and defining a support for said equipment;   (c) each of said elongate hollow leg members rotatable with respect to said apex;   (d) said apex defining a tapered receptable suitable to receive a corresponding tapered portion of an equipment support;   (e) said tapered receptable including a circular cross section;   (f) said tapered receptable defining an interior lower bottom surface;   (g) said interior lower bottom surface defining a set of seven openings therein, wherein a first one of said openings is located at 0 degrees, a second one of said openings is located at 45 degrees, a third one of said openings is located at 90 degrees, a fourth one of said openings is located at 135 degrees, a fifth one of said openings is located at 180 degrees, a sixth one of said openings is located at 225 degrees, a seventh one of said openings is located at 270 degrees, where there is no opening located at 235 degrees.   
     
     
         2 . The support of  claim 1  further comprising said lower bottom surface defining an opening in a central portion of said interior lower bottom surface. 
     
     
         3 . The support of  claim 1  further comprising said lower bottom surface defining a discontinuity in a central portion of said interior lower bottom surface. 
     
     
         4 . The support of  claim 1  wherein a central point of each of said seven openings are the same distance from a center of said interior lower bottom surface. 
     
     
         5 . A support comprising:
 (a) a plurality of elongate hollow leg members;   (b) each of said elongate hollow leg members at least partially supporting an apex selectively, detachably mountable to equipment and defining a support for said equipment;   (c) each of said elongate hollow leg members rotatable with respect to said apex;   (d) said apex defining a tapered receptable suitable to receive a corresponding tapered portion of an equipment support;   (e) said tapered receptable including a circular cross section;   (f) said tapered receptable defining an interior lower bottom surface;   (g) said interior lower bottom surface defining a set of four openings therein, wherein a first one of said openings is located at 0 degrees, a second one of said openings is located at 90 degrees, a third one of said openings is located at 180 degrees, and a fourth one of said openings is located at 270 degrees.
