Playing cards and privacy covers for playing cards, and devices and methods to obscure card information

Abstract

Disclosed herein are covers and privacy sleeves for playing and other cards designed to obscure card information to nearby observers.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A card cover, comprising:
 a sleeve;   one or more display windows; and   one or more obscuring portions operable to obscure card information, wherein the one or more obscuring portions further comprise one or more privacy filters.   
     
     
         2 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more privacy filters comprise louvers. 
     
     
         3 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the card information comprises at least one of characteristic, color, depiction, illustration, sort, suit, card type, and value. 
     
     
         4 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the card cover is adapted to adhere to a card via static charge. 
     
     
         5 . The card cover of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more attachments for securing the card cover to a card. 
     
     
         6 . The card cover of  claim 5 , wherein the one or more attachments comprise at least one of magnets, velcro, and adhesive. 
     
     
         7 . The card cover of  claim 6 , wherein the adhesive comprises at least one of adhesive paste, epoxy adhesive, epoxy resin, epoxy, film adhesive, glue, hot glue, liquid adhesive, polyimide adhesive, polyepoxide, polyimide, polyurethane adhesive, polyurethane, silicone adhesive, silicone, spray adhesive, and super glue. 
     
     
         8 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the card cover is sized to cover a French-suited English pattern playing card. 
     
     
         9 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises at least one of card stock, cardboard, cotton paper blend, cover stock, Dacron, glass, heavy paper, Lavsan, metal, terylene, thermoplastic polymer resin, thermoplastic polymer, thermoplastic, paper, paperboard, pasteboard, plastic coated paper, plastic, polyester, polymer, and polyethylene terephthalate. 
     
     
         10 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more display windows comprise a transparent or semi-transparent material. 
     
     
         11 . The card cover of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more display windows comprise an area of the sleeve where there is an absence of material. 
     
     
         12 . A card cover kit, comprising at least one card cover and a deck of cards, wherein the card cover comprises a sleeve; one or more display windows; and one or more obscuring portions operable to obscure card information, wherein the one or more obscuring portions further comprise one or more privacy filters. 
     
     
         13 . The kit of  claim 12 , wherein the deck of cards further comprises at least one of Adler-Cego cards, animal tarot cards, Baronesse pattern cards, Belgian-Genoese pattern cards, Berlin pattern cards, Bourgeois Tarot cards, Dondorf Rhineland pattern cards, Dutch pattern cards, English pattern cards, French-suited cards, French-suited playing cards, French-Swiss pattern cards, German playing cards, German-suited Old Bavarian pattern cards, Industrie and Glück cards, Industrie and Glück tarock cards, Italian playing cards, Lombard pattern cards, Modern Portuguese pattern cards, modern Swedish pattern cards, North-German pattern cards, Paris pattern cards, Piedmontese pattern cards, playing cards, Russian pattern cards, Spanish playing cards, Swiss playing cards, tarock cards, tarots, tarot cards, Tarot Nouveau cards, Trente et Quarante pattern cards, Tuscan pattern cards, and Vienna pattern cards. 
     
     
         14 . A card, comprising:
 a top and a bottom located at opposite ends of a length along a longitudinal axis;   a left side and a right side located at opposite ends of a width along a latitudinal axis;   an anterior surface and a posterior surface;   a card cover comprising one or more display windows for displaying public card information and one or more obscuring portions for obscuring private card information,   wherein:
 the private card information and the public card information are disposed on the anterior surface; 
 the one or more display windows overlay the public card information; and 
 the one or more obscuring portions overlay the private card information. 
   
     
     
         15 . The card of  claim 14 , wherein the public card information and private card information each convey at least one of the card's characteristic, color, depiction, illustration, sort, suit, type, or value. 
     
     
         16 . The card of  claim 14 , wherein the public information is disposed substantially in the center of the card along the longitudinal axis and is viewable through the one or more display windows. 
     
     
         17 . The card of  claim 14 , wherein the card cover is integrated with the card. 
     
     
         18 . A method of obscuring and revealing card information, comprising the steps of inserting a playing card comprising card information into the card cover of  claim 1 .
