Method and apparatus for providing an improved toilet

Abstract

An improved toiled system including a urine receptacle with a guide channel is provided, said guide channel having an inlet port that is configured to be positioned closer to the user's point of urination, such that the user may urinate into the inlet port with a greater degree of comfort that a higher percentage of said user's urine will be contained into the urine receptacle. The guide channel is configured to be moved from a retracted to an extended position, said extended position being to allow for use by the user, and said retracted position being to allow for storage of the guide channel out of the way when not being used. In one configuration a toilet with a seat may be used in its conventional manner when said guide channel is in said retracted position. Another significant feature is the use of a return feature, which causes the lid to be in the up position, and the seat in the down position, after use by the user, for the convenience of the next user. When this feature is used with the above retraction/extension position, it solves the issue of a woman wanting the toilet seat down with very little effort to the man because it automatically returns everything to the seated position for a woman simply by the man releasing the handles or foot pedal.

A device for use with a toilet, said toilet including a toilet bowl configured to accept solid and urine waste from a human while sitting upon a human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said bowl configured to accept urine from a urine stream passing along a urine path into said bowl, said urine stream originating from said human while standing at a standing position facing the bowl, said device comprising:
 A) a seat member defining a seat member sitting surface portion, said seat member sitting surface portion defining at least a part of said human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said seat member configured for allowing said human to sit at a sitting position such that solid waste configured to be transferred into said bowl while said human is sitting on said seat member; and   B) a movable lid assembly movable from a first, up position to a second, urine receiving position, to a third, down position at least partially covering said bowl, said movable lid assembly including:
 1. a urine receptacle having a receptacle inlet and a receptacle outlet; and 
 2. a passageway having a passageway inlet and a passageway outlet, said passageway configured to guide urine passing through said passageway along a urine path from said passageway inlet to said passageway outlet, said passageway outlet configured to dispense urine from said passageway directly into said bowl, 
   said movable lid assembly being configured to be moved from said first, up position wherein said receptacle inlet is spaced apart from said urine stream, to said second, urine receiving position wherein said receptacle inlet intercepts at least a portion of said urine stream above said toilet bowl and said receptacle outlet diverts said portion of said urine stream into said passageway inlet such that said portion moves from said passageway inlet and then through said passageway and finally out said passageway outlet and into said toilet bowl, to said third, down position at least partially covering said bowl,   
       said movable lid assembly configured such that the shape of said urine path from said passageway inlet to said passageway outlet is fixed and does not bend or twist along the entire length of said path during movement of said lid from said first, up position to said second, urine receiving position, to said third, down position, but said path retains the same dimensions during movement of said lid from said first, up position to said second, urine receiving position, to said third, down position. 
     
     
         30 . A device for use with a toilet, said toilet including a toilet bowl configured to accept solid and urine waste from a human while sitting upon a human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said bowl configured to accept urine from a urine stream passing along a urine path into said bowl, said urine stream originating from said human while standing at a standing position facing the bowl, said device comprising:
 A) a seat member defining a seat member sitting surface portion, said seat member sitting surface portion defining at least a part of said human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said seat member configured for allowing said human to sit at a sitting position such that solid waste configured to be transferred into said bowl while said human is sitting on said seat member; and   B) a movable lid assembly movable about a lid pivoting axis from a first, up position to a second, urine receiving position, to a third, down position at least partially covering said bowl, said movable lid assembly including:
 1) a urine receptacle having an inlet and an outlet; and 
 2) a passageway body connected to said urine receptacle and comprising:
 a) a passageway inner tubing member having an inlet end and an outlet end, said inlet end connected to and configured to accept urine from said outlet of said receptacle, 
 b) an upper body portion, and 
 c) a lower body portion, said upper and lower body portions combining to provide a passageway body enclosure configured to capture said passageway inner tubing member therein from said inlet end of said passageway inner tubing member to a point at which said inner tubing member passes out of said passageway body enclosure, 
 
 said passageway body configured to at least partially cover said bowl when in said third, down position; and 
 3) a pivoting connection portion providing a pivoting connection between said movable lid assembly and said seat member about said lid pivoting axis, said pivoting connection being such that said point at which said inner tubing member passes out of said passageway body enclosure is below said seat member sitting surface portion when said movable lid assembly is in said second, urine receiving position, 
   said movable lid assembly being configured to be moved from said first, up position wherein said inlet is spaced apart from said urine stream, to said second, urine receiving position wherein said inlet intercepts at least a portion of said urine stream above said toilet bowl and said receptacle diverts said portion of said urine stream into said inlet such that said portion moves from said inlet to said outlet and then through said passageway inner tubing member and finally into said toilet bowl.   
     
     
         31 . A method for providing and using a device for use with a toilet, said toilet including a toilet bowl configured to accept solid and urine waste from a human while sitting upon a human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said bowl configured to accept urine from a urine stream passing along a urine path into said bowl, said urine stream originating from said human while standing at a standing position facing the bowl, said method comprising:
 A) providing a seat member defining a seat member sitting surface portion, said seat member sitting surface portion defining at least a part of said human sitting surface defined above said bowl, said seat member configured for allowing said human to sit at a sitting position such that solid waste configured to be transferred into said bowl while said human is sitting on said seat member; and   B) providing a movable lid assembly movable about a lid pivoting axis from a first, up position to a second, urine receiving position, to a third, down position at least partially covering said bowl, said movable lid assembly including:
 1) a urine receptacle having an inlet and an outlet; and 
 2) a passageway body connected to said urine receptacle and comprising:
 a) a passageway inner tubing member having an inlet end and an outlet end, said inlet end connected to and configured to accept urine from said outlet of said receptacle, 
 b) an upper body portion, and 
 c) a lower body portion, said upper and lower body portions combining to provide a passageway body enclosure configured to capture said passageway inner tubing member therein from said inlet end of said passageway inner tubing member to a point at which said inner tubing member passes out of said passageway body enclosure, 
 
 said passageway body configured to at least partially cover said bowl when in said third, down position; and 
 3) a pivoting connection portion providing a pivoting connection between said movable lid assembly and said seat member about said lid pivoting axis, said pivoting connection being such that said point at which said inner tubing member passes out of said passageway body enclosure is below said seat member sitting surface portion when said movable lid assembly is in said second, urine receiving position, and; 
   C) moving said movable lid assembly from said first, up position wherein said inlet is spaced apart from said urine stream, to said second, urine receiving position wherein said inlet intercepts at least a portion of said urine stream above said toilet bowl and said receptacle diverts said portion of said urine stream into said inlet such that said portion moves from said inlet to said outlet and then through said passageway inner tubing member and finally into said toilet bowl.
