Containers, blanks, and methods for dispensing web material
Abstract
Container includes a base portion having a bottom panel defining a compartment. A front base panel extends upwardly from the bottom panel. A back panel extends from the bottom panel. First and second base side tabs extend between the bottom panel, front base panel, and back panel to define opposing sides. A lid portion is moveable between open and dispensing positions. The lid portion includes a top panel hindgedly-coupled to the back panel, and a front lid panel extending from the top panel having a front lid panel pressure edge. The front lid panel in the dispensing position extends within the compartment along the front base panel to pinch a web material from the compartment between the front lid panel pressure edge and the bottom panel. The web material is dispensed between the front lid panel and the front base panel when the lid is in the dispensing position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A package adapted for storage and dispensing of web material from a roll, the package comprising:
a container including (1) a base portion defining a compartment with an upwardly opening access aperture, the base portion having a bottom panel defining a bottom of the compartment, a front base panel extending upwardly from the bottom panel to define a front of the compartment, a back panel extending from the bottom panel to define a back of the compartment, and first and second panel side tabs extending between the bottom panel, the front base panel, and the back panel at opposing sides thereof to define opposing sides of the compartment; and (2) a lid portion including a top panel extending from the back panel over the upwardly-opening access aperture of the compartment, a front lid panel extending from the top panel downwardly along the front base panel, and locking tabs extending from the top panel downwardly along the first and second panel side tabs of the base, wherein the locking tabs are configured to selectively retain the lid portion in a dispensing position with the top panel extending over the upwardly-opening access aperture and the front lid panel extending downwardly along the front base panel; and a roll of web material arranged in the compartment of the container, the roll of web material being wound around a central axis that extends through the first base side tab and the second base side tab, wherein the web material is routed between the front base panel and the front lid panel so that a shear force can be applied to the web material during dispensing and reduce the tendency of the web material to curl when a portion of the web material is removed from the roll of web material.
2 . The package of claim 1 , wherein at least part of the locking tabs included in the lid portion are folded into the compartment when the locking tabs are retaining the lid portion in the dispensing position.
3 . The package of claim 2 , wherein the at least part of the locking tabs included in the lid portion are inserted through slots formed in the first and second panel side tabs when the locking tabs are retaining the lid portion in the dispensing position.
4 . The package of claim 1 , wherein the base portion is formed to include an access recess configured to provide access for a user to grip the web material located between the front base panel and the front lid panel for dispensing.
5 . The package of claim 4 , wherein the access recess extends through the bottom panel of the base portion.
6 . The package of claim 5 , wherein the access recess extends through the front base panel of the base portion.
7 . The package of claim 1 , wherein the access recess is provided by a single aperture opening into the compartment of the container.
8 . The package of claim 7 , wherein the single aperture that provides the access recess is arranged through areas of both the bottom panel of the base portion and the front base panel of the base portion.
9 . The package of claim 1 , wherein the front lid panel of the lid portion is sized to extend over most of the front base panel of the base portion.
10 . A container for storing and dispensing a roll of web material, the container comprising
a base portion defining a compartment with an upwardly opening access aperture, the base portion having a bottom panel defining a bottom of the compartment, a front base panel extending upwardly from the bottom panel to define a front of the compartment, a back panel extending from the bottom panel to define a back of the compartment, and first and second panel side tabs extending between the bottom panel, the front base panel, and the back panel at opposing sides thereof to define opposing sides of the compartment; and a lid portion including a top panel extending from the back panel over the upwardly-opening access aperture of the compartment, a front lid panel extending from the top panel downwardly along the front base panel, and locking tabs extending from the top panel downwardly along the first and second panel side tabs of the base, wherein the locking tabs are configured to selectively retain the lid portion in a dispensing position with the top panel extending over the upwardly-opening access aperture and the front lid panel extending downwardly along the front base panel.
11 . The container of claim 10 , wherein at least part of the locking tabs included in the lid portion are folded into the compartment when the locking tabs are retaining the lid portion in the dispensing position.
12 . The container of claim 11 , wherein the at least part of the locking tabs included in the lid portion are inserted through slots formed in the first and second panel side tabs when the locking tabs are retaining the lid portion in the dispensing position.
13 . The container of claim 10 , wherein the base portion is formed to include an access recess configured to provide access into the compartment when the lid portion is in the dispensing position.
14 . The container of claim 13 , wherein the access recess extends through the bottom panel of the base portion.
15 . The container of claim 14 , wherein the access recess extends through the front base panel of the base portion.
16 . The container of claim 14 , wherein the access recess is provided by a single aperture opening into the compartment of the container.
17 . The container of claim 16 , wherein the single aperture that provides the access recess is arranged through areas of both the bottom panel of the base portion and the front base panel of the base portion.
18 . The container of claim 10 , wherein the front lid panel of the lid portion is sized to extend over most of the front base panel of the base portion.
19 . A package adapted for storage and dispensing of web material from a roll, the package comprising:
a container including (1) a base portion defining a compartment with an upwardly opening access aperture, the base portion having a bottom panel defining a bottom of the compartment, a front base panel extending upwardly from the bottom panel to define a front of the compartment, a back panel extending from the bottom panel to define a back of the compartment, and first and second panel side tabs extending between the bottom panel, the front base panel, and the back panel at opposing sides thereof to define opposing sides of the compartment; (2) a lid portion including a top panel extending from the back panel over the upwardly-opening access aperture of the compartment and a front lid panel extending from the top panel downwardly along the front base panel; and (3) an access recess formed in the base portion; and a roll of web material arranged in the compartment of the container, wherein the roll of web material is positioned in an overhand orientation with the web material extending over a top of the roll toward the front base panel, wherein the web material is routed between the front base panel and the front lid panel, and wherein the access recess is configured to provide access for a user to grip the web material located between the front base panel and the front lid panel for dispensing.
