Abstract

The present application discloses an accessory for items of sporting equipment. Implementations may provide an accessory comprising a structure configured to be affixed to a first end of an item of sporting equipment meant to be swung or rotated, such as a baseball bat, lacrosse stick, or tennis racquet. The addition of the accessory results in movement of the center of mass of the sporting item. Implementations may be varied in weight and dimension such that the center of mass of the sporting item is moved to a location optimal for the demands of the sport and individual athletes' needs.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1 . A sport equipment balance accessory comprising a structure,
the structure comprising a cavity, the cavity configured to be affixed to a first distal end of an item of sporting equipment, the cavity configured to enclose the entirety of the perimeter of the first distal end of the item of sporting equipment, and the structure having a mass such that the center of mass of the item of sporting equipment is moved towards the distal end thereof to which the structure is affixed, and the structure comprising a single element.

2 . The accessory of claim 1 , wherein the cavity comprises an inner surface configured to engage with the surface of the first distal end of the item of sporting equipment, and where the entirety of the inner surface contacts the first distal end of the piece of sporting equipment when the structure and cavity are engaged with the item of sporting equipment.

3 . The accessory of claim 2 , wherein the structure further comprises a weight cavity configured to hold one or more weights.

4 . The accessory of claim 3 , wherein the weight cavity is configured to permit the addition or removal of weights from the weight cavity.

5 . The accessory of claim 4 , wherein the weight cavity and knob cavity configured to be affixed to a first distal end of an item of sporting equipment are coextensive.

6 . The accessory of claim 1 , further comprising one or more weights integrally contained within the structure.

7 . The accessory of claim 6 , wherein the one or more weights are formed of a first material and the structure is formed of a second material which is different from the first material, and the first material comprises a metal.

8 . An accessory for affixing to a piece of sports equipment, the accessory resulting in a center of mass of the piece of equipment moving in towards the end of the sports equipment to which the accessory is affixed, the accessory comprising:
An enclosure, the enclosure comprising: A knob cavity configured to affix to a first distal end of the piece of sports equipment, where the first distal end consists of a rounded knob structure, wherein the knob cavity encloses the entirety of the perimeter of the first distal end of the item of sporting equipment when the accessory is affixed to the piece of sports equipment, and The enclosure and its constituent components comprising a single element.

9 . The accessory of claim 8 , wherein the enclosure further comprises a weight cavity configured to hold one or more weights.

10 . The accessory of claim 9 , wherein the weight cavity is configured to permit the addition or removal of weights from the weight cavity.

11 . The accessory of claim 10 , wherein the weight cavity and knob cavity configured to be affixed to a first distal end of an item of sporting equipment are coextensive.

12 . The accessory of claim 8 , further comprising one or more weights integrally contained within the enclosure.

13 . The accessory of claim 12 , wherein the one or more weights are formed of a first material and the enclosure is formed of a second material which is different from the first material, and the first material comprises a metal.

14 . An accessory for affixing to a piece of sports equipment, the accessory resulting in a center of mass of the piece of equipment moving in towards the end of the sports equipment to which the accessory is affixed, the accessory comprising:
An enclosure, the enclosure comprising: A knob cavity configured to affix to a first distal end of the piece of sports equipment, wherein the knob cavity encloses the entirety of the perimeter of the first distal end of the item of sporting equipment when the accessory is affixed to the piece of sports equipment, and A weight cavity configured to fold one or more weights

15 . The accessory of claim 14 , wherein the weight cavity is configured to permit the addition or removal of weights from the weight cavity.

16 . The accessory of claim 14 , where the structure further comprises a removable face permitting the addition or removal of weights to or from the weight cavity.

17 . The accessory of claim 15 , wherein the weight cavity and knob cavity configured to be affixed to a first distal end of an item of sporting equipment are coextensive.

18 . The accessory of claim 14 , further comprising one or more weights integrally contained within the enclosure.

19 . The accessory of claim 18 , wherein the one or more weights are formed of a first material and the enclosure is formed of a second material which is different from the first material, and the first material comprises a metal.
