Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for decreasing inflammation in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising at least one short chain fatty acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; wherein the composition is administered orally as an oral dosage form.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the short chain fatty acid is selected from the group consisting of: formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, isobutvric acid, butyric acid, isovaleric acid, valeric acid, isocaproic acid, caproic acid, lactic acid, succinic acid, and pyruvic acid.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered in combination with another therapeutic agent.
. (canceled)
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered with food or drink.
- 15 . (canceled)
. The method of claim 1 , wherein decreasing inflammation is by modulating expression of a mediator of inflammation.
. The method of claim 16 , wherein the mediator of inflammation is TNF-α.
. The method of claim 17 , wherein the administering decreases expression of TNF-α.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the short chain fatty acid is butyric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein the composition further comprises propionic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein decreasing inflammation treats an inflammatory disease in the subject.
. The method of claim 22 , wherein the inflammatory disease is associated with an autoimmune disease.
. The method of claim 22 , wherein the inflammatory disease is associated with an autoaggressive disease.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
