Abstract

This invention introduces an adjustable metal rain collar designed to enhance the waterproofing of ventilation pipe flashings. The collar is adaptable for installation on conventional waterproof pipe flashings using roofing sealant or rubber collars. It serves as a preventative measure against water leakage in scenarios where the roofing sealant or rubber collar may fail. Crafted from durable aluminum and stainless steel, the adjustable metal rain collar offers long-term resilience, ensuring it remains unaffected by deterioration over time. This innovation proves instrumental in situations where the sealant between the pipe and flashing or the rubber collar degrades, leading to a gap between the pipe and flashing on the roof. The adjustable metal rain collar effectively provides an additional layer of waterproofing above the gap, mitigating the risk of water leaks and contributing to the longevity and reliability of ventilation pipe flashing installations on roofs.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

1 . An adjustable metal rain collar for ventilation pipe flashings, comprising a cone-shaped rain collar, a clamp, and a butyl sealing gasket, where said rain collar is constructed from aluminum, exhibiting an adjustable opening to accommodate various pipe diameters, and having two pins positioned at the bottom of openings on both sides, said pins functioning as locking mechanisms when bent inward and outward, thereby securing the bottom openings of the rain collar.

2 . The adjustable metal rain collar of claim 1 , further including a clamp designed to secure the rain collar to a pipe, said clamp positioned just below the top edge of the rain collar to ensure a firm attachment, and facilitating the secure fastening of the top edges of the overlapped opening, wherein said clamp is crafted from stainless steel, contributing to the durability and long-term resilience of the adjustable metal rain collar.

3 . An adjustable metal rain collar for ventilation pipe flashings, as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said butyl sealing gasket is attached to the inside top edges of the rain collar, enabling it to wrap and overlap around a pipe during installation, creating an additional waterproof layer that fills the cavity inside the overlapped rain collar, and effectively preventing water leakage between the pipe and the rain collar.

4 . The adjustable metal rain collar of claim 1 , adapted for installation on traditional pipe flashings that are waterproofed using roofing sealant or rubber collars, wherein said adjustable metal rain collar acts as a preventative measure against water leakage in scenarios where the roofing sealant or rubber collar fails, thereby providing an enduring solution to potential water ingress issues.

5 . An adjustable metal rain collar for ventilation pipe flashings, as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said adjustable metal rain collar, crafted from durable aluminum and stainless steel, remains impervious to deterioration over time, ensuring a long-lasting and resilient solution for enhancing the waterproofing of ventilation pipe flashings on roofs.

6 . The adjustable metal rain collar of claim 1 , serving as an effective solution in situations where the sealant between the pipe and flashing or the rubber collar degrades over time, resulting in a gap between the pipe and flashing on the roof, wherein said adjustable metal rain collar mitigates the risk of water leaks by providing an additional layer of waterproofing above the gap.
