Cup with integrated folding lid

Abstract

Embodiments provide a cup with an integrated lid that comprises top, center, and bottom portions. The top portion of the cup defines an opening and is attached to a plurality of integrated lid sections extending from the top portion and separated from the top portion by one or more fold lines. The plurality of integrated lid sections may be folded inward over the opening defined by the top portion to cover and at least partially seal the opening. The center portion defines a sidewall that extends between two ends that are affixed to at least each other. The bottom portion extends from the center portion and defines a base. The plurality of integrated lid sections may interlock to define a lid. The lid may be configured with a hole or spout for drinking or pouring the contents of the cup. The base, sidewall, and lid may define a frustoconical shape.

That which is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A cup with an integrated folding lid comprising:
 a center portion defining a sidewall, the sidewall extending between a first end and a second end, the first end of the sidewall attached to the second end of the sidewall along a seam;   a circular bottom portion extending from the center portion defining a base, the circular bottom portion configured to extend from the sidewall in a first direction;   a plurality of integrated folding lid sections, each of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections separated from the center portion by a fold line, wherein the plurality of integrated folding lid sections cooperate to form a lid when folded along their respective fold lines; and   a cutout defined through the lid configured to provide access to contents of the cup when the plurality of integrated folding lid sections cooperate to form the lid,   wherein the center portion comprises a spout adjacent to the cutout, wherein the spout extends above a fold line adjacent to the spout.   
     
     
         2 . The cup of  claim 1 , wherein the spout extends above the fold line adjacent to the spout in a direction opposite the first direction. 
     
     
         3 . The cup of  claim 1 , further comprising a piece of material extending from at least one of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections, wherein the piece of material at least partially covers the cutout. 
     
     
         4 . The cup of  claim 3 , wherein the spout is positioned to extend perpendicular to a surface defined by the lid formed by the plurality of integrated folding lid sections. 
     
     
         5 . The cup of  claim 1 , wherein the cutout defines a drinking opening, wherein the drinking opening is configured to receive one or more of a straw, a stirrer, or a utensil. 
     
     
         6 . The cup of  claim 5 , wherein the spout is positioned at a junction between the plurality of integrated folding lid sections and the sidewall. 
     
     
         7 . The cup of  claim 6 , wherein the fold line comprises one or more of a perforation line, a creased line, a ridged line, a solid score line, or a dashed score line. 
     
     
         8 . The cup of  claim 7 , wherein the plurality of integrated folding lid sections extend upward from the sidewall as one or more continuous extensions of the sidewall opposite the circular bottom portion. 
     
     
         9 . The cup of  claim 8 , wherein at least one tab extends upward from a first integrated folding lid section of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections, and wherein a slit is defined in a second integrated folding lid section of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections. 
     
     
         10 . The cup of  claim 1  further comprising a graphical design print wherein the graphical design print indicates a location of the fold line. 
     
     
         11 . The cup of  claim 10 , wherein the graphical design print indicates a direction and order to fold the plurality of integrated folding lid sections. 
     
     
         12 . A cup with an integrated folding lid comprising:
 a center portion defining a sidewall, the sidewall extending between a first end and a second end, the first end of the sidewall attached to the second end of the sidewall along a seam;   a plurality of integrated folding lid sections, the plurality of integrated folding lid sections separated from the center portion by a fold line, wherein the plurality of integrated lid sections cooperate to form a lid when folded along the fold line; and   a cutout defined through the lid configured to provide access to contents of the cup when the plurality of integrated folding lid sections cooperate to form the lid; and   a spout adjacent to the cutout, wherein the spout extends from the sidewall above a fold line adjacent to the spout.   
     
     
         13 . The cup of  claim 12 , further comprising a piece of material extending from at least one of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections, wherein the piece of material at least partially covers the cutout. 
     
     
         14 . The cup of  claim 12 , wherein the spout is positioned to extend perpendicular to a surface defined by the lid formed by the plurality of integrated folding lid sections. 
     
     
         15 . The cup of  claim 12 , wherein the cutout defines a drinking opening, wherein the drinking opening is configured to receive one or more of a straw, a stirrer, or a utensil. 
     
     
         16 . The cup of  claim 12 , wherein the spout is positioned at a junction between the plurality of integrated folding lid sections and the sidewall. 
     
     
         17 . The cup of  claim 12 , wherein the fold line comprises one or more of a perforation line, a creased line, a ridged line, a solid score line, or a dashed score line. 
     
     
         18 . The cup of  claim 12 , wherein the plurality of integrated folding lid sections extend upward from the sidewall as one or more continuous extensions of the sidewall.

The cup of  claim 18 , wherein at least one tab extends upward from a first integrated folding lid section of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections, and wherein a slit is defined in a second integrated folding lid section of the plurality of integrated folding lid sections. 
     
     
         20 . The cup of  claim 12 , further comprising a graphical design print wherein the graphical design print indicates a location of the fold line wherein the graphical design print indicates a direction and order to fold the plurality of integrated folding lid sections.
