Abstract
A safety vest device is disclosed for construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, crossing guards, etc. The safety vest device comprises a body component that is configured in the shape of a conventional vest or other suitable safety garment. The body component comprises a plurality of air flaps cut into the rear surface via a laser cutter or other suitable tool. The plurality of air flaps allow wind and cool air to pass through the body component, while warm body heat can escape. Users can wear the device to keep themselves cool, effectively preventing heat-related ailments like heat stroke, dehydration, etc. Further, the body component retains all visible properties of the safety garment to maintain optimal safety while in a work zone.

a body component; and a plurality of air flaps; wherein the body component is configured as a conventional safety vest; wherein the body component comprises the plurality of air flaps on a rear surface; and further wherein the plurality of air flaps allow cool air to pass through the body component, while body heat escapes, to cool users and prevent heat-related ailments while working.
2 . The safety vest device of claim 1 , wherein the safety vest device is a conventional safety garment utilized by construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, or crossing guards.
3 . The safety vest device of claim 2 , wherein the safety vest device is a safety garment, such as a vest, jacket, or poncho.
4 . The safety vest device of claim 3 , wherein the body component is double stitched and reinforced, and is preferably constructed primarily of heavy-duty, yet lightweight material such as canvas, nylon, or breathable mesh.
5 . The safety vest device of claim 4 , wherein the body component is a one-piece, sleeveless vest featuring a back panel, and two chest panels.
6 . The safety vest device of claim 5 , wherein the two chest panels are held comfortably closed over a user's chest by way of a sturdy fastener means running down a front surface of the safety vest device.
7 . The safety vest device of claim 6 , wherein the sturdy fastener means is a zipper.
8 . The safety vest device of claim 6 , wherein the sturdy fastener means is Velcro.
9 . The safety vest device of claim 6 , wherein the body component is produced in highly conspicuous colors, such as florescent orange, florescent yellow, or florescent green hues.
10 . The safety vest device of claim 9 , wherein the body component comprises reflective strips running vertically down each side and around periphery or waist.
11 . The safety vest device of claim 10 , wherein the body component comprises a plurality of storage pockets positioned on either chest panel.
12 . The safety vest device of claim 11 further comprising a plurality of indicia.
13 . The safety vest device of claim 12 , wherein the back panel of the body component comprises a plurality of air flaps cut into it via a laser cutter.
14 . A safety vest device that helps ventilate a user while working, the safety vest device comprising:
a body component comprising a one-piece, sleeveless vest featuring a back panel, and two chest panels held comfortably closed over a user's chest by a zipper; and a plurality of air flaps; wherein the body component is produced in highly conspicuous colors, such as florescent orange, florescent yellow, or florescent green hues; wherein the body component comprises reflective strips running vertically down each side and around waist; wherein around periphery of the body component is a bright silver marking to further enhance visibility; wherein the body component comprises a plurality of storage pockets positioned on either chest panel; wherein the back panel of the body component comprises a plurality of air flaps cut into it via a laser cutter; and further wherein the plurality of air flaps allow cool air to pass through the body component, while body heat escapes, to cool users and prevent heat-related ailments while working.
15 . The safety vest device of claim 14 wherein the plurality of air flaps are a rectangular through hole cut through the back panel on three sides, creating a flap that covers the through hole but allows air to enter and exit.
16 . The safety vest device of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of air flaps are of various shapes.
17 . The safety vest device of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of air flaps are of various sizes.
18 . The safety vest device of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of air flaps are positioned on either or both chest panels.
19 . The safety vest device of claim 14 , wherein the plurality of storage pockets comprise a flap for securing contents.
20 . A method of ventilating a safety vest to provide heat relief for workers, the method comprising the following steps:
