Individual Serving Coffee Cup Pod

Abstract

A single serving coffee cup pod includes a generally cylindrical frame extending a length of the pod and a base attached to the frame, forming a chamber. A filter is located in the chamber. The filter has an elongated body with a hemispherical filter end extending downwardly therefrom. An opening is formed in the base.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A single serving coffee cup pod comprising:
 a generally cylindrical frame extending a length of the pod;   a base attached to the frame, forming a chamber;   a filter located in the chamber, the filter having an elongated body with a hemispherical filter end extending downwardly therefrom; and   an opening formed in the base.   
     
     
         2 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 1 , further comprising a cover attached to the base and extending across the opening. 
     
     
         3 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 2 , wherein the cover is removable from the base, the cover having a tab, the cover being removable from the opening by pulling the tab. 
     
     
         4 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 1 , wherein the opening is approximately 1 inch in diameter. 
     
     
         5 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 4 , wherein the opening has a diameter approximately 1.4 inches in diameter. 
     
     
         6 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 1 , wherein a ratio of an area of the opening to an area of the frame at the base is about 0.5:1. 
     
     
         7 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 1 , further comprising coffee grounds located inside the filter. 
     
     
         8 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 1 , wherein the base forms an annulus around the opening. 
     
     
         9 . A single serving coffee cup pod comprising:
 a generally cylindrical frame extending a length of the pod;   a base attached to the frame, forming a chamber;   a filter located in the chamber, the filter having an elongated body with a hemispherical filter end extending downwardly therefrom;   an opening formed in the base, wherein a ratio of an area of the opening to an area of the frame at the base is about 0.5:1; and   a removable cover provided across the opening, the cover having a tab, the cover removable from the opening by pulling the tab.   
     
     
         10 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 9 , wherein the opening is approximately 1 inch in diameter. 
     
     
         11 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 10 , wherein the opening has a diameter approximately 1.4 inches in diameter. 
     
     
         12 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 9 , wherein the base forms an annulus around the opening. 
     
     
         13 . A single serving coffee cup pod comprising:
 a generally cylindrical frame extending a length of the pod;   a base attached to the frame, forming a chamber;   a filter located in the chamber, the filter having an elongated body with a hemispherical filter end extending downwardly therefrom;   an opening formed in the base, wherein the base forms an annulus around the opening; and   a cover provided across the opening.   
     
     
         14 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 13 , wherein the opening is approximately 1 inch in diameter. 
     
     
         15 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 14 , wherein the opening has a diameter approximately 1.4 inches in diameter. 
     
     
         16 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 13 , wherein a ratio of an area of the opening to an area of the frame at the base is about 0.5:1. 
     
     
         17 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim 13 , further comprising coffee grounds located inside the filter. 
     
     
         18 . The single serving coffee cup pod according to  claim, 13 , wherein the cover is removable, the cover having a tab, the cover being removable from the opening by pulling the tab.
