Abstract

New systems, devices and methods for extremely precise aiming and shooting of firearms are provided. In some embodiments, predicted projectile impacts may be selected and adjusted, prior to execution. In some embodiments, a device including specialized computer hardware and software aids a user in planning a shot(s), evaluating the accuracy of the planned shot(s), adjusting the location of the planned shot(s), and executing the planned shots. In some embodiments, smart bullets with on-board electronics, active aerodynamics, and wireless communications capabilities adjust a flight path of the smart bullet in-flight, to match a selected target location and/or flight path. In some embodiments, an active firearm barrel may counteract and/or otherwise adjust for any other relevant ballistic and other accuracy-impacting factors with a position-actuable firing mechanism to maintain a projected flight path of such a point of impact.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A smart weapon aiming system, comprising:
 a firearm or other projectile firing device;   a sensor;   a control system including computer hardware and software configured to perform calculation(s) related to the flight of projectile(s);   a sighting device configured to indicate a potential point of impact of a projectile based on said calculations; and   a communications hardware, configured to carry communications from the sighting device to the control system.   
     
     
         2 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 1 , wherein the sensor is configured to aid in determining a position in space of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         3 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 1 , wherein the sensor is configured to aid in determining a rotational position of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         4 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 2 , wherein the sensor is configured to aid in determining a rotational position of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         5 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a visual and/or electronic radiation based sensor, configured to aid in determining a position of a target within a target-surrounding environment. 
     
     
         6 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 5 , comprising a second sensor which is configured to aid in determining a position in space of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         7 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 5 , comprising a second sensor is configured to aid in determining a rotational position of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         8 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 6 , wherein said second sensor is configured to aid in determining a rotational position of a barrel of the firearm. 
     
     
         9 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 4 , wherein said firearm or other projectile firing device is configured to send said projectile(s) only when said calculations and said flight of said projectile(s) are determined to intersect with said point of impact. 
     
     
         10 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 9 , comprising a trigger, and wherein said firearm or other projectile firing device is configured to send said projectile(s) only when a user activates said trigger. 
     
     
         11 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 1 , wherein the display comprises augmented reality display hardware. 
     
     
         12 . The smart weapon aiming system of  claim 11 , wherein the display is adapted to overlay virtual objects within said view of said target and said target-surrounding environment. 
     
     
         13 . A method for controlling the firing of a firearm, comprising the following steps:
 providing an aiming system, comprising:
 a firearm or other projectile firing device; 
 a sensor; 
 a control system including computer hardware and software configured to perform calculation(s) related to the flight of projectile(s); 
 a sighting device configured to indicate a potential point of impact of a projectile based on said calculations; and 
 a communications hardware, configured to carry communications from the sighting device to the control system; and 
   controlling the firing of said firearm, with the aid of said control system and said calculation(s) related to the flight of projectile(s).   
     
     
         14 . The method for controlling the firing of a firearm of  claim 13 , wherein the sensor is a visual and/or electronic radiation-based sensor, configured to aid in determining a position of a target within a target-surrounding environment. 
     
     
         15 . The method for controlling the firing of a firearm of  claim 14 , comprising a second sensor which is configured to aid in determining a position in space of said firearm. 
     
     
         16 . The method for controlling the firing of a firearm of  claim 15 , wherein said second sensor is configured to aid in determining a rotational movement of said firearm. 
     
     
         17 . The method for controlling the firing of a firearm of  claim 13 , wherein said sighting device is configured to create a second potential point of impact selected by a user, and displays said second potential point of impact selected by a user simultaneously on said sighting device. 
     
     
         18 . A device for aiding a user(s) in aiming a firearm, comprising:
 a scope or other weapon sight;   a sensor;   a control system including computer hardware and software configured to perform calculation(s) related to the flight of projectile(s) and to control the initiation of firing a projectile weapon; and   communications hardware, configured to carry communications from the sighting device to the control system;   wherein said scope or other weapon sight is configured to indicate a potential point of impact of a projectile based on said calculations.   
     
     
         19 . The device of  claim 17 , wherein said control system is configured to send a signal to initiate sending a projectile from a weapon. 
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 18 , wherein said scope or other sighting device includes a display, and is configured to create a second potential point of impact selected by a user, and displays said second potential point of impact selected by a user simultaneously on said sighting device.
