Mailbox with Attachments

Abstract

A mailbox with components which can be connected to or disconnected from the mailbox for adding or changing functional or ornamental aspects of the mailbox. A receptacle having side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall to form an enclosure and a moveable lid attached to the top wall is additionally provided to receive packages.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A mailbox comprising:
 a support post;   a mailbox base on the support post;   a mailbox bin on the mailbox base;   a receptacle attached to the mailbox base, the receptacle having side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall to form an enclosure; and   a moveable lid attached to the top wall.   
     
     
         2 . The mailbox of  claim 1  wherein the lid is attached to the receptacle by hinges. 
     
     
         3 . The mailbox of  claim 2  wherein the lid is biased to a closed position. 
     
     
         4 . The mailbox of  claim 3  wherein the lid is opened by a packaged positioned on the lid. 
     
     
         5 . The mailbox of  claim 3  wherein the lid is electronically opened and closed. 
     
     
         6 . The mailbox of  claim 5  wherein the lid is actuated by a button to complete an electrical connection. 
     
     
         7 . The mailbox of  claim 3  wherein the lid is actuated by a signal from a drone. 
     
     
         8 . The mailbox of  claim 3  wherein the lid is actuated by a signal from a package delivery service. 
     
     
         9 . The mailbox of  claim 3  wherein the lid is weatherproof. 
     
     
         10 . The mailbox of  claim 9  further comprising a gasket about the lid. 
     
     
         11 . The mailbox of  claim 7  further comprising a target on the lid. 
     
     
         12 . The mailbox of  claim 7  further comprising a beacon in the receptacle. 
     
     
         13 . A mailbox with first and second receptacles comprising:
 a mailbox having a first receptacle;   a second receptacle interconnected with the mailbox, the second receptacle having side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall to form an enclosure;   a moveable lid attached to the top wall of the second receptacle, the lid having a first closed position and a second open position, the lid biased in a closed position.   
     
     
         14 . The mailbox of  claim 13  wherein the lid is moved from the first closed position to the second open position electronically. 
     
     
         15 . The mailbox of  claim 14  wherein the lid is actuated by a button to complete an electrical connection. 
     
     
         16 . The mailbox of  claim 13  wherein the lid is actuated to move from the first closed position to the second open position by a signal from a drone. 
     
     
         17 . The mailbox of  claim 13  wherein the lid is actuated to move from the first closed position to the second open position by a signal from a package delivery service. 
     
     
         18 . The mailbox of  claim 13  further comprising a gasket about the lid. 
     
     
         19 . The mailbox of  claim 13  further comprising a target on the lid. 
     
     
         20 . The mailbox of  claim 16  further comprising a beacon in the receptacle.
