Abstract

A pillow has an outer enclosure enclosing a fill. The outer enclosure has a length extending between a first pillow end region that includes a first pillow end, and an opposing second pillow end region that includes an opposing second pillow end. The outer enclosure has a pillow width and a pillow thickness, wherein the pillow width is greater than the pillow thickness at the first pillow end region and the pillow thickness is greater than the pillow width at the opposing second pillow end region.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A pillow comprising:
 a fill;   an outer enclosure enclosing the fill, forming a filled outer enclosure;   the filled outer enclosure having a length extending between a first pillow end and an opposing second pillow end;   the filled outer enclosure defining a pillow width and a pillow thickness, wherein the pillow width is greater than the pillow thickness at the first pillow end and the pillow thickness is greater than the pillow width at the opposing second pillow end; and   wherein the pillow width decreases from the pillow width at the first pillow end to the pillow width at the second pillow end including across an intermediate transition zone, wherein the intermediate transition zone extends along at least a majority of the length of the filled outer enclosure including along an intermediate pillow region of the pillow that bisects the first pillow end and the second pillow end, and wherein the outer enclosure is configured to be free from a defined restriction in the outer enclosure that results in the pillow width of the filled outer enclosure to transition from decreasing to increasing in the intermediate transition zone.   
     
     
         2 . The pillow of  claim 1 , wherein the pillow thickness increases from the pillow thickness at the first pillow end to the pillow thickness at the second pillow end including across the intermediate transition zone, and wherein the outer enclosure is configured to be free from a defined restriction in the outer enclosure that causes the pillow thickness of the filled outer enclosure to transition from increasing to decreasing in the intermediate transition zone. 
     
     
         3 . The pillow of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first pillow end has a first cross-sectional profile when taken perpendicular to the length of the filled outer enclosure, the first cross-sectional profile has a width dimension in a direction of the pillow width and a thickness dimension in a direction of the pillow thickness, wherein the width dimension of the first cross-sectional profile is larger than the thickness dimension of the first cross-sectional profile; and   the second pillow end has a second cross-sectional profile when taken perpendicular to the length of the filled outer enclosure, the second cross-sectional profile has a width dimension in a direction of the pillow width and a thickness dimension in a direction of the pillow thickness, wherein the thickness dimension of the second cross-sectional profile is larger than the width dimension of the second cross-sectional profile.   
     
     
         4 . The pillow of  claim 3 , wherein the width dimension of the first cross-sectional profile in the direction of the pillow width corresponds to a maximum lateral dimension of the first cross-sectional profile, and the thickness dimension of the first cross-sectional profile in the direction of the pillow thickness corresponds to a minimum lateral dimension of the first cross-sectional profile. 
     
     
         5 . The pillow of  claim 4 , wherein the width dimension of the second cross-sectional profile in the direction of the pillow width corresponds to a minimum lateral dimension of the second cross-sectional profile, and the thickness dimension of the second cross-sectional profile in the direction of the pillow thickness corresponds to a maximum lateral dimension of the second cross-sectional profile. 
     
     
         6 . The pillow of  claim 1 , wherein a first pillow end region adjacent the first pillow end is configured to provide a tapered torso support region, and a second pillow end region adjacent the second pillow end is configured to provide a first head support region on a left side of the second pillow end region and a second head support region on a right side of the second pillow end region. 
     
     
         7 . The pillow of  claim 1 , wherein the outer enclosure comprises a sheet of fabric that is folded over on itself and sewn together to form the outer enclosure. 
     
     
         8 . The pillow of  claim 1 , wherein the second pillow end comprises a zipper that is configured to be unzipped in order to add, remove and/or adjust the fill inside the outer enclosure, and zipped up in order to secure the fill inside the outer enclosure. 
     
     
         9 . The pillow of  claim 2 , wherein a first pillow end region adjacent the first pillow end is more tapered to the first pillow end than a second pillow end region adjacent the second pillow end is to the second pillow end. 
     
     
         10 . The pillow of  claim 9 , wherein the second pillow end region is blunted at the second pillow end. 
     
     
         11 . The pillow of  claim 1 , comprising a pillow case defining a pillow receiving cavity, wherein the pillow is received by the pillow receiving cavity of the pillow case. 
     
     
         12 . An elongated pillow having a first pillow end and an opposing second pillow end, the elongated pillow comprising:
 a torso support region adjacent the first pillow end;   a head support region adjacent the second pillow end;   the torso support region and the head support region are defined by a fabric outer enclosure that encloses a fill, wherein the fabric outer enclosure includes one or more wrinkles;   the torso support region having a thickness and a width, wherein the thickness of the torso support region monotonically increases from the first pillow end toward the head support region neglecting the one or more wrinkles in the fabric outer enclosure, and the width of the torso support region monotonically decreases from the first pillow end toward the head support region neglecting the one or more wrinkles in the fabric outer enclosure; and   the head support region having a thickness and a width, wherein the thickness of the head support region monotonically decreases from the second pillow end toward the torso support region neglecting the one or more wrinkles in the fabric outer enclosure, and the width of the head support region monotonically increases from the second pillow end toward the torso support region neglecting the one or more wrinkles in the fabric outer enclosure.   
     
     
         13 . The elongated pillow of  claim 12 , wherein the fabric outer enclosure is free from a stitched seam extending laterally across the elongated pillow for connect the head support region to the torso support region. 
     
     
         14 . The elongated pillow of  claim 12 , comprising a pillow case defining a pillow receiving cavity, wherein the elongated pillow is received by the pillow receiving cavity of the pillow case, and wherein the pillow case is a standard, queen or king size pillow case. 
     
     
         15 . The elongated pillow of  claim 12 , wherein the fabric outer enclosure comprises a sheet of fabric that is folded over on itself and sewn together with a stitched seam that extends longitudinally along a length of the fabric outer enclosure from the first pillow end to the second pillow end. 
     
     
         16 . The elongated pillow of  claim 14 , wherein one of the first pillow end and the second pillow end comprises a zipper that is configured to be unzipped in order to add, remove and/or adjust the fill inside the fabric outer enclosure, and zipped up in order to secure the fill inside the fabric outer enclosure. 
     
     
         17 . A pillow assembly comprising:
 a pillow case defining a pillow receiving cavity;   a pillow including a fabric outer enclosure that encloses a fill, wherein the pillow is configured to fit into the pillow receiving cavity of the pillow case;   the fabric outer enclosure defining a torso support region and an opposing head support region, the torso support region and the head support region each having a major dimension and an orthogonal minor dimension;   the torso support region extending between two corresponding opposing lateral sides of the fabric outer enclosure along the major dimension of the torso support region and between two corresponding opposing lateral sides of the fabric outer enclosure along the minor dimension of the torso support region;   the head support region extending between two corresponding opposing lateral sides of the fabric outer enclosure along the major dimension of the head support region and between two corresponding opposing lateral sides of the fabric outer enclosure along the minor dimension of the head support region;   wherein the major dimension of the torso support region is radially offset relative to the major dimension of the head support region when the pillow is in a relaxed state; and   wherein the fabric outer enclosure is free from a seam that extends laterally across the fabric outer enclosure in or between the torso support region and the head support region.   
     
     
         18 . The pillow of  claim 17 , wherein the head support region defines a first head support region on a left side of the head support region and a second head support region on a right side of the head support region. 
     
     
         19 . The pillow of  claim 17 , wherein the head support region includes a first wing sewn into the head support region and a second wing sewn into the head support region, the first wing and the second wing being substantially parallel with the minor dimension of the head support region, the first wing and the second wing defining a rectilinear shape that defines a boxed end of the fabric outer enclosure. 
     
     
         20 . The pillow of  claim 19 , wherein the torso support region defines a tapered end of the fabric outer enclosure.
