Also described is an article for use in or as an aerosol provision system, a method of manufacturing a component, and an apparatus configured for manufacturing a component.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A component for an article for use in or as an aerosol provision system, the component comprising a tubular body of cellulose-based material sandwiched between inner and outer sheet materials, wherein the inner sheet material has a permeability of at least 200 CU.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the inner sheet material is a porous sheet material.

. A component according to claim 2 , wherein the inner sheet material is provided with perforations.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the inner sheet material is a non-porous sheet material, and the permeability is provided by perforations formed in said material.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the permeability of the inner sheet material is greater than 500 CU, or greater than 1000 CU.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the inner and/or outer sheet material is formed from paper.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the tubular body has a wall thickness of between 1 mm and 4 mm.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the inner sheet material has a basis weight of between 40 gsm and 100 gsm

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the outer sheet material has a basis weight of between 20 gsm to 100 gsm, or 20 gsm to 80 gsm, or 30 gsm to 70 gsm.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the outer sheet material comprises perforations.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the component further comprises a cylindrical body of cellulose-based material.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the cellulose-based material is paper, optionally wherein the paper is formed from wood pulp.

. A component according to claim 11 , wherein at least one object is embedded in the cylindrical body of material.

. A component according to claim 13 , wherein the at least one object comprises a tubular element and/or an aerosol-modifying agent release component.

. A component according to claim 14 , wherein the at least one object comprises first and second tubular elements.

. A component according to claim 15 , wherein the first and second tubular elements are separated by a gap between 0.5 mm and 6 mm, or between 1 mm and 3 mm, or between 2 mm and 5 mm,

. A component according to claim 15 , wherein the first and second tubular elements are separated by a gap between 5 mm and 15 mm, or between 6 mm and 12 mm, or about 6 mm, about 7 mm, about 8 mm or about 9 mm.

. A component according to claim 17 , wherein the body extends into said gap.

. A component according to claim 1 , wherein the tubular body of cellulose-based material comprises gathered sheet material, and said gathered sheet material comprises cut out portions.

. An article for use in or as an aerosol provision system, the article comprising a component according to claim 1 .

. A method of manufacturing a component for an article for use in an aerosol provision system, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a feed of a first sheet material having a porosity of at least 200 CU; forming an inner tubular element from the first sheet material; providing a feed of cellulose-based material and a feed of a second sheet material; gathering said cellulose-based material around the inner tubular element; and wrapping the gathered cellulose-based material with the second sheet material to form a tubular body of cellulose-based material sandwiched between inner and outer sheet materials.

. An apparatus configured for manufacturing a component in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:
a first feed mechanism for a first sheet material; a first garniture assembly for forming an inner tubular element from the first sheet material; a second feed mechanism for feeding a cellulose-based material; a third feed mechanism for a second sheet material; and a second garniture assembly for gathering said cellulose-based material around the inner tubular element and wrapping the gathered cellulose-based material with the second sheet material to form a tubular body of cellulose-based material sandwiched between the inner and outer sheet materials.
