Abstract

An aerosol generating article configured for being heated but not burnt includes an aerosol generating section and a filter section; the aerosol generating section being wrapped by a wrapper and including at least a tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate including homogenized tobacco material and/or reconstituted tobacco wherein the aerosol generating section further includes a porous aerosol generating reservoir containing a foam including an aerosol forming agent and a foam forming agent.

1 . An aerosol generating article configured for being heated but not burnt comprising:
 an aerosol generating section and a filter section; the aerosol generating section wrapped by a wrapper and comprising at least a tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate comprising homogenized tobacco material and a porous aerosol generating reservoir containing a foam comprising an aerosol forming agent and a foam forming agent.   
     
     
         2 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating reservoir is positioned longitudinally and/or radially adjacent to the tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate. 
     
     
         3 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol reservoir is formed as a disc. 
     
     
         4 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol reservoir comprises at least one longitudinal channel. 
     
     
         5 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol reservoir is positioned downstream of the tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate. 
     
     
         6 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating reservoir is formed of multiples discrete elements embedded in the tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate. 
     
     
         7 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating reservoir is a thin film between the tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate and the wrapper. 
     
     
         8 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating reservoir comprises an aerosol generating liquid. 
     
     
         9 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein content of aerosol forming agent in the foam is higher than the content of aerosol forming agent in the tobacco-based aerosol generating substrate. 
     
     
         10 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the foam-forming agent is selected from the group consisting of hydrocolloid selected from the group of agar, gellan gum, an emulsifier selected from the group of lecithin, polyglycerol esters of fatty acids, glycerol esters of fatty acids, sorbitan esters of fatty acids, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the foam further comprises a foam stabilizing agent. 
     
     
         12 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 11 , wherein the foam-stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of cellulose gum, hydroxyalkylated carbohydrates, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         13 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 11 , wherein the foam stabilizing agent comprises cellulose gum, carboxymethylcellulose or derivatives thereof and/or cellulose fibre. 
     
     
         14 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 11 , wherein the amount of foam-stabilizing agent is between 10 and 30 wt. % of the aerosol generating reservoir. 
     
     
         15 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 11 , wherein the foam-stabilizing agent comprises at least 10 wt. % of cellulose fibre in the aerosol generating reservoir and/or at least 10 wt. % of carboxymethylcellulose in the aerosol generating reservoir. 
     
     
         16 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol forming agent is present in an amount of at least 50 wt. % of the total weight in dry basis of the aerosol reservoir. 
     
     
         17 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol forming agent comprises glycol derivatives comprising propylene glycol, or glycerin or glycerol or sebacate esters or a combination thereof and comprises glycerol. 
     
     
         18 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol forming agent comprises at least 30 wt. % glycerin of the total weight in dry basis of aerosol forming agent. 
     
     
         19 . The aerosol generating article according to  claim 1 , wherein the homogenized tobacco material takes the form of gathered sheet, shreds, or strips.
