Totem pole toy system

Abstract

A toy system and toy collection including a base configured to mount and display toys stacked in a vertical arrangement emulating a totem pole. Each toy is mounted on a post configured to removably mount to another post or to the base. In embodiments, the toys depict characters and have a rounded top and flat bottom and are substantially equally sized and shaped. In embodiments, each toy has an enlarged head, small body, and pronounced eyes.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A toy system, comprising:
 a base having a male connector;   a post having a female connector formed at one end for mating with the male connector, and a male connector formed at an opposing end for mating with a female connector or another post; and   a toy having a through passage for receiving the post to secure the toy on the post and relative to the base.   
     
     
         2 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein a length of the post substantially corresponds to a height of the toy. 
     
     
         3 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the male connector of the base extends upwardly and the post mounts vertically on the base. 
     
     
         4 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the toy has a planar bottom and a rounded top. 
     
     
         5 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the base has a planar top configured to interface with the planar bottom of the toy. 
     
     
         6 . The toy system of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one additional post configured to mount to the post and at least one additional toy configured to receive the t least one additional post, wherein each additional post and additional toy forms a sub-assembly configured to mount atop the post and the toy or atop another sub-assembly to form a stack of toys emulating a totem pole. 
     
     
         7 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the male connector of the post, when the toy is mounted on the post, is disposed within the toy and presented at a top of the toy. 
     
     
         8 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the toy depicts a character having a large head and a small body. 
     
     
         9 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the toy has a face with pronounced eyes. 
     
     
         10 . The toy system of  claim 1 , wherein the base includes a placard. 
     
     
         11 . A toy system, comprising:
 a base; and   a plurality of substantially equally sized toys, each toy having an enlarged rounded head, an undersized body, and a rounded recess formed in a bottom of the undersized body configured to interface with the enlarged rounded head of another one of the toys to allow the toys to be stacked vertically to emulate a totem pole.   
     
     
         12 . The toy system of  claim 11 , wherein the enlarged rounded head is convex and the rounded recess is concave. 
     
     
         13 . The toy system of  claim 11 , wherein each toy has pronounced eyes that remain visible when the toys are stacked. 
     
     
         14 . The toy system of  claim 11 , wherein the bottom of each toy is planar. 
     
     
         15 . A toy collection, comprising:
 a plurality of sub-assemblies each including a post and a toy mounted on the post, each sub-assembly configured to removably mount atop another one of the subassemblies via a male-to-female interface; and   a base configured to mount and display the sub-assemblies in a stacked arrangement emulating a totem pole.   
     
     
         16 . The toy collection of  claim 15 , wherein, for each sub-assembly, a length of the post substantially corresponds to a height of the toy. 
     
     
         17 . The toy collection of  claim 15 , wherein each toy has a planar bottom and a rounded top. 
     
     
         18 . The toy collection of  claim 15 , wherein each post has a male connector at one end and a female connector at an opposing end. 
     
     
         19 . The toy collection of  claim 15 , wherein each toy depicts a character having an enlarged head and a small body. 
     
     
         20 . The toy collection of  claim 15 , wherein each toy has a face with pronounced eyes.
