Foldable bed

Abstract

A bed includes a cover and a frame for supporting the cover. The cover includes a first covering member for supporting a user in a lying position, a second covering member forming a first pocket with a first portion of the first covering member, and a third covering member forming a second pocket with a second portion of the first covering member. The frame includes a first mounting member inserted into the first pocket, a second mounting member inserted into the second pocket, and a plurality of leg assemblies, each connected to one or more of the first and second mounting members. When the bed is in use, the plurality of leg assemblies supports the first and second mounting members while the first mounting member holds the first portion of the first covering member and the second mounting member holds the second portion of the first covering member.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A bed comprising:
 a cover comprising:
 a first covering member for supporting a user in a lying position; 
 a second covering member forming a first pocket with a first portion of the first covering member; 
 a third covering member forming a second pocket with a second portion of the first covering member; and 
 a gap between the second and third covering members; and 
   a frame comprising:
 a first mounting member inserted into the first pocket through the gap; 
 a second mounting member inserted into the second pocket through the gap; and 
 a plurality of leg assemblies, each connected to one or more of the first and second mounting members, 
 wherein when the bed is in use, the plurality of leg assemblies supports the first and second mounting members while the first mounting member holds the first portion of the first covering member and the second mounting member holds the second portion of the first covering member. 
   
     
     
         2 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the first, second, or third covering member of the cover is made of a fabric. 
     
     
         3 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the first, second, and third covering members of the cover are integrally formed of a unitary piece. 
     
     
         4 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the second or third covering member is sewed to the first covering member of the cover. 
     
     
         5 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the first covering member of the cover is substantially flat. 
     
     
         6 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the cover further comprises:
 a link operable to close at least a portion of the gap between the second and third covering members.   
     
     
         7 . The bed of  claim 6 , wherein the link comprises a zipper. 
     
     
         8 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of leg assemblies comprises:
 a first leg assembly connected to the first mounting member;   a second leg assembly connected to the second mounting member; and   a third leg assembly connected to both of the first mounting member and the second mounting member.   
     
     
         9 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein the first or second mounting member is substantially U-shaped. 
     
     
         10 . The bed of  claim 9 , wherein the first or second mounting member is integrally formed of a unitary piece. 
     
     
         11 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein:
 a respective mounting member in the first and second mounting members comprises a left mounting segment and a right mounting segment;   a corresponding covering member in the second and third covering members comprises a left opening to expose a portion of the left mounting segment of the respective mounting member and a right opening to expose a portion of the right mounting segment of the respective mounting member; and   a corresponding leg assembly in the plurality of leg assemblies comprises a left leg connected to the exposed portion of the left mounting segment of the respective mounting member and a right leg connected to the exposed portion of the right mounting segment of the respective mounting member.   
     
     
         12 . The bed of  claim 11 , wherein:
 the respective mounting member further comprises a lateral mounting segment connecting the left mounting segment with the right mounting segment;   the corresponding covering member further comprises one or more additional openings to expose one or more portions of the lateral mounting segment of the respective mounting member;   the corresponding leg assembly further comprises a lateral bar connecting the left and right legs; and   the frame further comprises one or more supports, each having an end connected to an exposed portion of the lateral mounting segment of the respective mounting member and another end connected to the lateral bar of the corresponding leg assembly.   
     
     
         13 . The bed of  claim 12 , wherein:
 the left leg of the corresponding leg assembly is pivotally connected to the exposed portion of the left mounting segment of the respective mounting member;   the right leg is pivotally connected to the exposed portion of the right mounting segment of the respective mounting member;   each of the one or more supports is pivotally connected to the lateral mounting segment of the respective mounting member and the lateral bar of the corresponding leg assembly; and   each of the one or more supports is selectively adjustable in length, thereby allowing the corresponding leg assembly to fold and unfold relative to respective mounting member.   
     
     
         14 . The bed of  claim 1 , wherein:
 each of the first and second mounting members comprises a left mounting segment and a right mounting segment;   the plurality of leg assemblies comprises a middle leg assembly disposed adjacent to the gap between the second and third covering members of the cover; and   the middle leg assembly comprise a middle left leg connected to the left mounting segments of the first and second mounting members and a middle right leg connected to the right mounting segments of the first and second mounting members.   
     
     
         15 . The bed of  claim 14 , wherein:
 the middle left leg is connected to the left mounting segments of the first and second mounting members by a left connecting member fixed on an upper end of the middle left leg; and   the middle right leg is connected to the right mounting segments of the first and second mounting members by a right connecting member fixed on an upper end of the middle right leg.   
     
     
         16 . The bed of  claim 15 , wherein:
 the middle left leg is pivotally connected to the left mounting segments of the first and second mounting members by left pins through holes formed on the left connecting member; and   the middle right leg is connected to the right mounting segments of the first and second mounting members by right pins through holes formed on the right connecting member.   
     
     
         17 . The bed of  claim 15 , wherein the upper end of the middle left or right leg is inclined. 
     
     
         18 . The bed of  claim 15 , wherein:
 a left strengthening member is disposed adjacent to the left connecting member to enhance strength of the middle left leg, help support the left connecting member when the bed is in use, or both; and   a right strengthening member is disposed adjacent to the right connecting member to enhance strength of the middle right leg, help support the right connecting member when the bed is in use, or both.   
     
     
         19 . The bed of  claim 18 , wherein:
 a middle left opening is formed between the second and third covering members when closing the gap to accommodate the upper end of the middle left leg, the left connecting member, the left strengthening member, or any combination thereof; and   a middle right opening is formed between the second and third covering members when closing the gap to accommodate the upper end of the middle right leg, the right connecting member, the right strengthening member, or any combination thereof.   
     
     
         20 . The bed of  claim 18 , wherein a triangular structure is formed by the left strengthening member and the middle left leg or by the right strengthening member and the middle right leg.
