Abstract
A cover for an air conditioner sleeve, has a frame secured around an outer exposed edge of the air conditioner sleeve protruding from a wall structure by being bent around an installing spacer and secured to the outer edge of the air conditioner sleeve, and a panel then seating within the frame after removal of the spacer, thereby shielding the outer protruding interior of the air conditioner sleeve.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A cover for an air conditioner sleeve, comprising
a frame configured to be secured around an outer exposed edge of the air conditioner sleeve protruding from a wall structure, and a panel configured to seat within the frame and thereby shield an outer protruding interior of the air conditioner sleeve.
2 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein the frame has three bendable sections configured to form a C or U shape when bent and secured to the outer exposed edge of the air conditioner sleeve.
3 . The cover of claim 2 , additionally comprising means for affixing said frame to the outer edge of the air condition sleeve.
4 . The cover of claim 2 , wherein said frame defines a track for receiving said panel being slid thereinto against the outer exposed edge of the air conditioner sleeve.
5 . The cover of claim 3 , additionally comprising a spacer for positioning said frame onto the outer exposed edge of the air conditioner sleeve for installing said frame on the air conditioner sleeve.
6 . The cover of claim 5 , wherein said affixing means are self-tapping screws.
7 . The cover of claim 2 , wherein internal edges of the frame sections are bent over on themselves to define the channel or track for receiving the panel.
8 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein the panel has a laterally-protruding handle at one end thereof, to allow said panel to be grasped and inserted into the defined track of the frame and removed therefrom.
9 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein said panel has a bent pyramidical surface.
10 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein said panel is manufactured from aluminum.
11 . The cover of claim 5 , wherein the spacer has a laterally-protruding handle at one end thereof, to allow said spacer to be grasped and removed from the defined track of the frame after installing the frame on the air conditioner sleeve.
12 . The cover of claim 5 , wherein the spacer is manufactured from aluminum.
13 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein the frame is manufactured from aluminum.
14 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein said panel is additionally insulated with foam.
15 . The cover of claim 8 , wherein said laterally-protruding handle has an inner fold configured to act as a weather strip minimizing water and air infiltration into the air conditioner sleeve when the panel is completely lowered into the frame.
16 . The cover of claim 2 , wherein an edge of each said three sections is bent over on itself to define a track for receiving the panel.
17 . The cover of claim 16 , additionally comprising a separate piece configured to be slid into the bend of at least one section of said frame, to facilitate guiding and wedging said cover panel into place.
18 . The cover of claim 17 , wherein said separate piece is substantially in the shape of an S when viewed from an end thereof.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
