Abstract

An apparatus to install a door jamb is disclosed. The apparatus may include a body portion, a first extendable arm and a second extendable arm. The first extendable arm may be disposed at a body portion distal part and the second extendable arm may be disposed at a body portion proximal part. Each of the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm may be configured to slide between a retracted position and an extended position. The apparatus may further include a first angle finding device and a second angle finding device configured to determine angle of the apparatus relative to ground. The first angle finding device may be attached to a first extendable arm distal end, and the second angle finding device may be attached to a second extendable arm proximal end.

That which is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An apparatus comprising:
 a body portion;   a first extendable arm and a second extendable arm, wherein the first extendable arm is disposed at a body portion distal part and the second extendable arm is disposed at a body portion proximal part, and wherein each of the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm is configured to slide between a retracted position and an extended position; and   a first angle finding device and a second angle finding device configured to determine angle of the apparatus with respect to ground, wherein the first angle finding device is attached to a first extendable arm distal end, and wherein the second angle finding device is attached to a second extendable arm proximal end.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm are disposed inside the body portion in the retracted position, and wherein the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm are disposed outside the body portion in the extended position. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the body portion comprises a channel configured to receive the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm inside the body portion. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising:
 a first fastening component configured to secure the first extendable arm at the retracted position and the extended position; and 
 a second fastening component configured to secure the second extendable arm at the retracted position and the extended position. 
 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the first fastening component and the second fastening component are thumb screws. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising:
 a first clamp attached to the first extendable arm distal end; and 
 a second clamp attached to the second extendable arm proximal end. 
 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the first clamp and the second clamp are C-shaped clamps. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the first clamp is attached to a first extendable arm back surface, and wherein the second clamp is attached to a second extendable arm back surface. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the first clamp and the second clamp are removably attached to the first extendable arm back surface and the second extendable arm back surface. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first angle finding device is attached to a first extendable arm front surface, and the second angle finding device is attached to a second extendable arm front surface. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first angle finding device is integrated to the first extendable arm distal end, and wherein the second angle finding device is integrated to the second extendable arm proximal end. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first angle finding device is removably attached to the first extendable arm distal end, and wherein the second angle finding device is removably attached to the second extendable arm proximal end. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein each of the first angle finding device and the second angle finding device comprises a first laser light source. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the first laser light source is configured to output light in a first direction perpendicular to a body portion longitudinal axis. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein each of the first angle finding device and the second angle finding device further comprises a second laser light source. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 15 , wherein the second laser light source is configured to output light in a second direction perpendicular to the body portion longitudinal axis, and wherein the second direction is opposite to the first direction. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the body portion comprises a plurality of laser light sources. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein each of the first angle finding device and the second angle finding device comprises a display screen and an in-built power source. 
     
     
         19 . An apparatus comprising:
 a body portion;   a first extendable arm and a second extendable arm, wherein the first extendable arm is disposed at a body portion distal part and the second extendable arm is disposed at a body portion proximal part, and wherein each of the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm is configured to slide between a retracted position and an extended position;   a first angle finding device and a second angle finding device configured to determine angle of the apparatus with respect to ground, wherein the first angle finding device is attached to a first extendable arm distal end, and wherein the second angle finding device is attached to a second extendable arm proximal end; and   a first clamp attached to the first extendable arm distal end and a second clamp attached to the second extendable arm proximal end, wherein the first clamp is attached to a first extendable arm back surface, and wherein the second clamp is attached to a second extendable arm back surface.   
     
     
         20 . A method for installing a doorjamb, the method comprising:
 providing an apparatus for installing the doorjamb, the apparatus comprising:
 a body portion; 
 a first extendable arm and a second extendable arm, wherein the first extendable arm is disposed at a body portion distal part and the second extendable arm is disposed at a body portion proximal part, and wherein each of the first extendable arm and the second extendable arm is configured to slide between a retracted position and an extended position; and 
 a first angle finding device and a second angle finding device configured to determine angle of the apparatus with respect to ground, wherein the first angle finding device is attached to a first extendable arm distal end, and wherein the second angle finding device is attached to a second extendable arm proximal end; 
   attaching the apparatus between opposite edges of the doorjamb;   leveling the apparatus relative to ground;   installing the door jamb; and   removing the apparatus from the doorjamb.
