Heat pump water heater sound baffle device

Abstract

A heat pump water heater is disclosed. The heat pump water heater may include a housing. The heat pump water heater may include a base plate disposed in an interior portion of the housing and a compressor unit disposed on the base plate. The heat pump water heater may further include a sound baffle device configured to at least partially enclose the compressor unit. The sound baffle device may be removably attached to the base plate. The sound baffle device and housing walls may be configured to reflect sound generated by the compressor unit back towards the interior portion of the housing.

That which is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A heat pump water heater comprising:
 a housing;   a base plate disposed in an interior portion of the housing;   a compressor unit disposed on the base plate; and   a sound baffle device disposed within the interior portion of the housing, wherein the sound baffle device is configured to partially enclose the compressor unit,   wherein the sound baffle device is attached to the base plate, and   wherein the sound baffle device and a wall of the housing are configured to at least partially surround the compressor unit and reflect sound generated by the compressor unit back towards the interior portion of the housing.   
     
     
         2 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 1 , wherein the compressor unit comprises a compressor and an accumulator. 
     
     
         3 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 2 , wherein the sound baffle device comprises a first piece and a second piece that are connected with each other. 
     
     
         4 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 3 , wherein the first piece is configured to partially surround the compressor and the second piece is configured to partially surround the accumulator. 
     
     
         5 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 3 , wherein a shape and size of the first piece is different from a shape and size of the second piece. 
     
     
         6 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 3 , wherein each of the first piece and the second piece comprise a baffle top plate that at least partially surround a top portion the compressor unit. 
     
     
         7 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 6 , wherein the baffle top plate comprises a first cut-out and a second cut-out. 
     
     
         8 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 7 , wherein the first cut-out is configured to surround compressor piping, and the second cut-out is configured to surround accumulator piping. 
     
     
         9 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 3 , wherein each of the first piece and the second piece comprise a baffle side plate that at least partially surround the compressor unit circumferentially. 
     
     
         10 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 9 , wherein each baffle side plate comprises a plurality of faces. 
     
     
         11 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 1 , wherein the sound baffle device is removably attached to the base plate via a fastener. 
     
     
         12 . A heat pump water heater comprising:
 a housing;   a compressor unit disposed within an interior portion of the housing; and   a sound baffle device disposed within the interior portion of the housing, wherein the sound baffle device is configured to at least partially enclose the compressor unit,   wherein the sound baffle device and a wall of the housing are configured to reflect sound generated by the compressor unit back towards the interior portion of the housing, and   wherein the sound baffle device comprises a baffle side plate and a baffle top plate that at least partially enclose the compressor unit.   
     
     
         13 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 12 , wherein the compressor unit comprises a compressor and an accumulator. 
     
     
         14 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 13 , wherein the sound baffle device comprises a first piece and a second piece that are interlocked with each other. 
     
     
         15 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 14 , wherein shape and size of the first piece is different from shape and size of the second piece. 
     
     
         16 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 14 , wherein the first piece is configured to at least partially enclose the compressor and the second piece is configured to at least partially enclose the accumulator. 
     
     
         17 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 13 , wherein the sound baffle device comprises a first cut-out and a second cut-out disposed at the baffle top plate. 
     
     
         18 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 17 , wherein the first cut-out is configured to at least partially enclose compressor piping, and the second cut-out is configured to at least partially enclose accumulator piping. 
     
     
         19 . The heat pump water heater of  claim 12 , wherein the sound baffle device is removably attached to a base plate via a fastener, wherein the base plate is disposed in the interior portion of the housing. 
     
     
         20 . A sound baffle device comprising:
 a first piece comprising a first side plate and a first top plate; and   a second piece comprising a second side plate and a second top plate, wherein the first piece and the second piece are removably attached to each other, wherein each of the first side plate and the second side plate comprises a plurality of faces, and wherein each face is disposed at a predefined angle relate to an adjacent face.
