Truck bed tent

Abstract

A tent assembly for a truck bed of a pickup truck comprises a frame assembly, a cover, and a plurality of anchor members. The frame assembly includes at least a central hub, a first edge post, a second edge post, a third edge post, and a fourth edge post. The cover is configured to extend between at least the first edge post and the second edge post, the second edge post and the third edge post, the third edge post and the fourth edge post, and the fourth edge post and the first edge post. The plurality of anchor members includes at least four corner anchors with each corner anchor configured to connect a distal end of one of the edge posts to a corner of one of the opposing bed rails of the truck bed of the pickup truck.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A tent assembly ( 100 ) for a truck bed ( 20 ) of a pickup truck ( 10 ), said tent assembly comprising:
 a frame assembly ( 200 ) having:
 a central hub ( 210 ) comprising an interior column ( 211 ), an exterior column ( 212 ) slideably engaged with the interior column, a first post attachment member ( 213 ) attached to an interior column top end ( 214 ), a second post attachment member ( 215 ) attached to an exterior column top end ( 216 ), and a cover attachment member ( 217 ) extending from an interior column bottom end ( 218 ); 
 a first edge post ( 220 ) connected at a first edge post proximal end ( 221 ) to the first post attachment member, said first edge post including a first brace post ( 222 ) extending between a first edge post section ( 223 ) and the second post attachment member; 
 a second edge post ( 230 ) connected at a second edge post proximal end ( 231 ) to the first post attachment member, said second edge post including a second brace post ( 232 ) extending between a second edge post section ( 233 ) and the second post attachment member; 
 a third edge post ( 240 ) connected at a third edge post proximal end ( 241 ) to the first post attachment member, said third edge post including a third brace post ( 242 ) extending between a third edge post section ( 243 ) and the second post attachment member; and 
 a fourth edge post ( 250 ) connected at a fourth edge post proximal end ( 251 ) to the first post attachment member, said fourth edge post including a fourth brace post ( 252 ) extending between a fourth edge post section ( 253 ) and the second post attachment member; 
   a cover ( 300 ) configured to extend between at least the first edge post and the second edge post, the second edge post and the third edge post, the third edge post and the fourth edge post, and the fourth edge post and the first edge post, a portion of said cover being connected to the cover attachment member; and   a plurality of anchor members ( 400 ) including:
 a first corner anchor ( 410 ) configured to connect a first edge post distal end ( 224 ) to a truck bed first rail first corner ( 21 ); 
 a second corner anchor ( 420 ) configured to connect a second edge post distal end ( 234 ) to a truck bed first rail second corner ( 22 ); 
 a third corner anchor ( 430 ) configured to connect a third edge post distal end ( 244 ) to a truck bed second rail first corner ( 23 ); and 
 a fourth corner anchor ( 440 ) configured to connect a fourth edge post distal end ( 254 ) to a truck bed second rail second corner ( 24 ) of the truck bed. 
   
     
     
         2 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises a cover first side ( 310 ) having at least one first window opening ( 311 ). 
     
     
         3 . The tent assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the first window opening includes a first screen ( 312 ). 
     
     
         4 . The tent assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the first window opening includes a first closure flap ( 313 ) with at least a portion of the first closure flap being removably connected to a corresponding portion of the first window opening. 
     
     
         5 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises a cover second side ( 320 ) having at least one second window opening ( 321 ). 
     
     
         6 . The tent assembly of  claim 5 , wherein the second window opening includes a second screen ( 322 ). 
     
     
         7 . The tent assembly of  claim 5 , wherein the second window opening includes a second closure flap ( 323 ) with at least a portion of the second closure flap being removably connected to a corresponding portion of the second window opening. 
     
     
         8 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises a cover third side ( 330 ) having at least one third window opening ( 331 ). 
     
     
         9 . The tent assembly of  claim 8 , wherein the third window opening includes a third screen ( 332 ). 
     
     
         10 . The tent assembly of  claim 8 , wherein the third window opening includes a third closure flap ( 333 ) with at least a portion of the third closure flap being removably connected to a corresponding portion of the third window opening. 
     
     
         11 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of anchor members includes a first edge anchor ( 450 ) configured to connect a cover first portion ( 340 ) to a truck bed first side ( 25 ). 
     
     
         12 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of anchor members includes a second edge anchor ( 460 ) configured to connect a cover second portion ( 350 ) to a truck bed second side ( 26 ). 
     
     
         13 . The tent assembly of  claim 1 , wherein
 the frame assembly includes a first entryway pole ( 260 ) extending between the first edge post distal end and the fourth edge post distal end;   a cover fourth side ( 360 ) includes an entryway opening ( 361 ); and   the cover includes an entryway cover portion ( 370 ).   
     
     
         14 . The tent assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the frame assembly includes a second entryway pole ( 270 ) extending between a first entryway pole first section ( 261 ) and a first entryway pole second section ( 262 ). 
     
     
         15 . The tent assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the entryway cover portion includes a fourth closure flap ( 371 ) at least a portion of which is partially removable. 
     
     
         16 . The tent assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the entryway cover portion includes a plurality of entryway cover anchor members ( 470 ) configured to connect the entryway cover portion to a tailgate ( 30 ) of the pickup truck. 
     
     
         17 . The tent assembly of  claim 11 , wherein the plurality of anchor members includes a second edge anchor ( 460 ) configured to connect a cover second portion ( 350 ) to a truck bed second side ( 26 ). 
     
     
         18 . The tent assembly of  claim 11 , wherein
 the frame assembly includes a first entryway pole ( 260 ) extending between the first edge post distal end and the fourth edge post distal end;   a cover fourth side ( 360 ) includes an entryway opening ( 361 ); and   the cover includes an entryway cover portion ( 370 ).   
     
     
         19 . The tent assembly of  claim 12 , wherein
 the frame assembly includes a first entryway pole ( 260 ) extending between the first edge post distal end and the fourth edge post distal end;   a cover fourth side ( 360 ) includes an entryway opening ( 361 ); and   the cover includes an entryway cover portion ( 370 ).   
     
     
         20 . The tent assembly of  claim 17 , wherein
 the frame assembly includes a first entryway pole ( 260 ) extending between the first edge post distal end and the fourth edge post distal end;   a cover fourth side ( 360 ) includes an entryway opening ( 361 ); and   the cover includes an entryway cover portion ( 370 ).
