Abstract
A container for holding one or more products. The container can comprise a bottom panel and a sidewall extending at least upwardly from the bottom panel and extending at least partially around an interior of the container. The sidewall can comprise at least an end panel, a corner panel, and a side panel. A flange can extend outwardly from the sidewall. The flange can comprise at least an end flange portion foldably connected to the end panel, a side flange portion foldably connected to the side panel, and a corner flange portion foldably connected to the corner panel. An extension can extend from each of the end flange portion and the side flange portion, and the corner flange portion can be in an overlapping relationship with each of the extensions for reinforcing the flange.

1 . A container for holding one or more products, the container comprising:
a bottom panel; a sidewall extending at least upwardly from the bottom panel and extending at least partially around an interior of the container, the sidewall comprising at least an end panel, a corner panel, and a side panel; and a flange extending outwardly from the sidewall, the flange comprising at least an end flange portion foldably connected to the end panel, a side flange portion foldably connected to the side panel, and a corner flange portion foldably connected to the corner panel, wherein an extension extends from each of the end flange portion and the side flange portion, and the corner flange portion is in an overlapping relationship with each of the extensions for reinforcing the flange.
2 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising a reinforcing flap foldably connected to at least one of the end panel and the side panel, the reinforcing flap being in an overlapping relationship with the corner panel.
3 . The container of claim 2 , further comprising one or more retention features extending in the corner panel.
4 . The container of claim 2 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel along a curved fold line configured to resist folding of the corner flange portion from a horizontal position in the flange.
5 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising a first reinforcing flap foldably connected to the end panel and a second reinforcing flap foldably connected to the side panel, each of the first reinforcing flap and the second reinforcing flap being in an overlapping relationship with the corner panel.
6 . The container of claim 5 , wherein each of the first reinforcing flap and the second reinforcing flap is in face-to-face contact with the corner panel.
7 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel by a folding feature, the folding feature comprising a folding panel at least partially defined by a plurality of oblique fold lines.
8 . The container of claim 7 , wherein the folding panel is diamond shaped and the plurality of oblique fold lines comprises two oblique fold lines extending along the corner panel and two oblique fold lines extending along the corner flange portion.
9 . The container of claim 7 , wherein an intermediate fold line has a first portion extending in the corner panel and a second portion extending in the folding panel, wherein the folding panel is folded along the plurality of oblique fold lines and the intermediate fold line so that the second portion of the intermediate fold line is folded away from the interior of the container, and wherein the corner panel is folded along the intermediate fold line so that the first portion of the intermediate fold line is folded toward the interior of the container.
10 . The container of claim 9 , wherein two corner fold lines extend in the corner panel, the two corner fold lines extending obliquely from the intermediate fold line toward the bottom panel, and wherein the corner panel further is folded along the two corner fold lines so that the two corner fold lines are folded toward the interior of the container.
11 . The container of claim 1 , wherein an intermediate fold line and two corner fold lines extend in at least the corner panel, wherein the two corner fold lines extend from an end of the intermediate fold line toward the bottom panel and the two corner fold lines are oblique with respect to the intermediate fold line, and wherein the corner panel is folded along the intermediate fold line and the two corner fold lines so that the intermediate fold line and the two corner fold lines are at least partially folded toward the interior of the container.
12 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel along a curved fold line, and wherein the curved fold line is concave with respect to the corner flange portion for resisting folding of the corner flange portion from a horizontal position in the flange.
13 . The container of claim 12 , wherein at least a portion of the corner panel is curved toward the interior of the container along at least a portion of the curved fold line.
14 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising a first attachment panel and a second attachment panel each foldably connected to the corner panel, wherein the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel are in an overlapping relationship with the respective end panel and side panel.
15 . The container of claim 14 , further comprising a flange reinforcing flap foldably connected to each of the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel, wherein the end flange portion and the side flange portion at least partially overlap the respective flange reinforcing flaps so that the flange reinforcement flaps support at least a portion of the flange.
16 . A blank for forming a container for holding one or more products, the blank comprising:
a bottom panel; a plurality of sidewall panels foldably connected to the bottom panel, the plurality of sidewall panels comprising at least an end panel, a corner panel, and a side panel, wherein the plurality of sidewall panels is for at least partially forming a sidewall of the container formed from the blank; and a plurality of flange portions for at least partially forming a flange for extending outwardly from the sidewall when the container is formed from the blank, the plurality of flange portions comprising at least an end flange portion foldably connected to the end panel, a side flange portion foldably connected to the side panel, and a corner flange portion foldably connected to the corner panel, wherein an extension extends from each of the end flange portion and the side flange portion, and the corner flange portion is for being in an overlapping relationship with each of the extensions for reinforcing the flange when the container is formed from the blank.
17 . The blank of claim 16 , further comprising a reinforcing flap foldably connected to at least one of the end panel and the side panel, wherein the reinforcing flap is for being in an overlapping relationship with the corner panel when the container is formed from the blank.
18 . The blank of claim 17 , further comprising one or more retention features extending in the corner panel.
19 . The blank of claim 17 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel along a curved fold line configured to resist folding of the corner flange portion from a horizontal position in the flange when the container is formed from the blank.
20 . The blank of claim 16 , further comprising a first reinforcing flap foldably connected to the end panel and a second reinforcing flap foldably connected to the side panel, each of the first reinforcing flap and the second reinforcing flap being in an overlapping relationship with the corner pane when the container is formed from the blank.
21 . The blank of claim 16 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel by a folding feature, the folding feature comprising a folding panel at least partially defined by a plurality of oblique fold lines.
22 . The blank of claim 21 , wherein the folding panel is diamond shaped and the plurality of oblique fold lines comprises two oblique fold lines extending along the corner panel and two oblique fold lines extending along the corner flange portion.
23 . The blank of claim 21 , wherein an intermediate fold line has a first portion extending in the corner panel and a second portion extending in the folding panel, wherein the folding panel is for being folded along the plurality of oblique fold lines and the intermediate fold line so that the second portion of the intermediate fold line is folded away from the interior when the container is formed from the blank, and wherein the corner panel is for being folded along the intermediate fold line so that the first portion of the intermediate fold line is folded toward the interior when the container is formed from the blank.
24 . The blank of claim 23 , wherein two corner fold lines extend in the corner panel, the two corner fold lines extending obliquely from the intermediate fold line toward the bottom panel, and wherein the corner panel further is for being folded along the two corner fold lines so that the two corner fold lines are folded toward the interior when the container is formed from the blank.
25 . The blank of claim 16 , wherein an intermediate fold line and two corner fold lines extend in at least the corner panel, wherein the two corner fold lines extend from an end of the intermediate fold line toward the bottom panel and the two corner fold lines are oblique with respect to the intermediate fold line, and wherein the corner panel is for being folded along the intermediate fold line and the two corner fold lines so that the intermediate fold line and the two corner fold lines are at least partially folded toward the interior when the container is formed from the blank.
26 . The blank of claim 16 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel along a curved fold line, and wherein the curved fold line is concave with respect to the corner flange portion for resisting folding of the corner flange portion from a horizontal position in the flange when the container is formed from the blank.

The blank of claim 16 , further comprising a first attachment panel and a second attachment panel each foldably connected to the corner panel, wherein the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel are for being in an overlapping relationship with the respective end panel and side panel when the container is formed from the blank.

The blank of claim 27 , further comprising a flange reinforcing flap foldably connected to each of the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel, wherein the end flange portion and the side flange portion are for at least partially overlapping the respective flange reinforcing flaps so that the flange reinforcement flaps support at least a portion of the flange when the container is formed from the blank.
29 . A method for forming a container for holding one or more products, the method comprising:
obtaining a blank comprising a bottom panel, a plurality of sidewall panels foldably connected to the bottom panel, and a plurality of flange portions, wherein the plurality of sidewall panels comprises at least an end panel, a corner panel, and a side panel, and the plurality of flange portions comprises at least an end flange portion foldably connected to the end panel, a side flange portion foldably connected to the side panel, and a corner flange portion foldably connected to the corner panel, and wherein an extension extends from each of the end flange portion and the side flange portion; forming a sidewall comprising the plurality of sidewall panels by folding the plurality of sidewall panels to extend at least upwardly from the bottom panel; and forming a flange comprising the plurality of flange portions by folding the plurality of flange portions to extend outwardly from the sidewall, the forming the flange comprising arranging the corner flange portion and the extensions to be in an at least partially overlapping relationship.
30 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel by a folding feature, the folding feature comprising a folding panel at least partially defined by a plurality of oblique fold lines, and wherein the forming the flange comprises folding the corner flange portion along the folding feature.
31 . The method of claim 30 , wherein an intermediate fold line has a first portion extending in the corner panel and a second portion extending in the folding panel, wherein the folding the corner flange portion along the folding feature comprises folding the folding panel along the plurality of oblique fold lines and the intermediate fold line so that the second portion of the intermediate fold line is folded away from the interior of the container, and wherein the folding the corner flange portion along the folding feature at least partially causes the corner panel to be folded along the intermediate fold line so that the first portion of the intermediate fold line is folded toward the interior of the container.
32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein two corner fold lines extend in the corner panel, the two corner fold lines extending obliquely from the intermediate fold line toward the bottom panel, and wherein the folding the corner flange portion along the folding feature at least partially causes the corner panel to be folded along the two corner fold lines so that the two corner fold lines are folded toward the interior of the container.
33 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the corner flange portion is foldably connected to the corner panel along a curved fold line, wherein the curved fold line is concave with respect to the corner flange portion, and wherein the folding the plurality of flange portions comprises folding the corner flange portion along the curved fold line, which causes at least a portion of the corner panel to be curved toward the interior of the container along at least a portion of the curved fold line.
34 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the blank further comprises a first attachment panel and a second attachment panel each foldably connected to the corner panel, wherein the forming the sidewall further comprises positioning the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel in an overlapping relationship with the respective end panel and side panel.
35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the blank further comprises a flange reinforcing flap foldably connected to each of the first attachment panel and the second attachment panel, wherein the forming the flange further comprises positioning the end flange portion and the side flange portion to at least partially overlap the respective flange reinforcing flaps so that the flange reinforcement flaps support at least a portion of the flange.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
